You get a gondola to the top of the mountain here and send it down as fast as possible, this was even better because we were out here with the Swatch Nines mountain bike crew and things got wild!

Gaya schickt mir heute einen Link zu seinem Dub & Dubtech Mix, den er Vinyl only gerade erst aufgenommen hat und hängt in der Discription eine hübsche Story mit ran.

I still remember it very well — somewhere in Mitte, Berlin, 1994, in some random backyard. I was there with a friend because a guy from Potsdam, DJ René, was playing that night.

And that was the first time I heard Dub Techno — in a completely unpretentious setting, which was rather unusual back then. Yeah, I know, I can’t remember exactly anymore, but I think Oswald or Ernestus were playing there too. Great sound system, no amateurs, and many of the early techno scene’s familiar faces were there.

Back then, I had absolutely no idea just how influential this sound would become. Naturally, I bought pretty much everything from the Oswald / Ernestus camp, and over the years that passion just kept expanding.

But when you go this deep into it, where do you actually get to hear this music? Dub Station Fusion, yes, occasionally — but it’s still pretty rare.

So every now and then, another little gem finds its way into my collection. And at some point, I felt it was time to finally weave some of these pieces together into a vinyl set.

Vielleicht meint er René Löwe, den ich später mal auf eine unserer Dubtechno Nächte in Potsdam gebucht hatte, was aber auch egal ist. Und ich mag den Gaya und das, was er tut ja wirklich außerordentlich gerne, aber seine unkreative Art seine Mixe zu benennen… Puh… Dicker!

Aber so wisst ihr immerhin, was ihr hier serviert bekommt: „Dub & Dubtech Special“. Und das ist dabei wirklich eindeutig Programm.

his short video took 20 years to make.
One photo taken at noon every day from Trevor McGavin’s south-facing Lower Hutt New Zealand weather camera.
Played back at 25 frames (days) per second.
The camera was originally installed in the 1990s, but I can’t find any saved image files older than 2006.
The pictures were live on Trevor’s weather web page at the time. Before 2006, probably they were never saved.
The 1990s vintage StarDot Technologies „WinCam Live“ „high-resolution“ 640×480 serial RS232 interface camera is exposed to the weather and was already getting a bit tired by 2006 – faded colours, dirt accumulating inside the lens and image washed out – but it’s still going in 2026.
This video is slightly processed to reduce the amount of flicker and to restore natural colours.
There is no audio.

“It’s Windows 98 solitaire, but you can play with everyone else on the internet.” A little more social than solitaire, but not by much.

Finally, after 278 hours of work, I (Jelle) build this Marble Machine mostly from scrap wood and reused materials from older projects (maybe you recognize some parts). It has 2 dumpsters (tipping containers) which holds 1000 and 200 marbles. It has 128 bells and chimes, but also a large number of drums, funnels, springs, nails, wooden sticks and much more. The cabinet of this marble machine functions as a resonance box to improve the sounds of the marbles.

WHERE THIS CAME FROM
When I saw this photograph, where the magnified microscopic record player needle sits between the vinyl record’s tracks I thought the groove walls looked like canyon walls. They look ridged and layered, and the shape of those walls is the music. I wondered whether it works the other way round. Could you take a real canyon, treat the cross-section as a groove, and use AI to drag a needle through the canyon grooves?
HOW IT WORKSE
ach canyon here is a real elevation profile, rim to rim, measured at 100 points. The floor sets the key. The shape of the walls sets the mood. The width sets how long one pass takes, and the depth sets the echo. Every voice crosses the profile at its own speed, and no two speeds line up. They fall in and out of step, so the music keeps changing. Two minutes in you have heard a piece. Twenty minutes in it still has not repeated.

Now for the bad news. The Poké Ball room is not available to rent. One-night stays are being awarded as prizes by applying via the Pokémon Sleep X account. Winners are also responsible for their own travel expenses to Hokkaido, but all entries earn a code for in-app items in Pokémon Sleep, if that is any consolation.

Reality Check setzt genau dort an und präsentiert im Sekundentakt mal echte, mal KI-Bilder und lässt nicht viel Zeit, um darüber zu entscheiden, was eben echt und was KI ist. Meine Quote jedenfalls ist mich für überraschend mau… Da geht er dahin, der Tag.

China treibt die Entwicklung humanoider Roboter mit enormem Tempo voran. Die Firma Ubtech ist einer von vielen Herstellern, die auf den wachsenden Markt setzen. In einer neuen Fabrik wollen die jetzt humanoide Roboter im Zehn-Minuten-Takt bauen.
