In Lärz brannte gestern sprichwörtlich nicht nur die Luft sondern direkt nebenan auch ein Acker, was dafür sorgte, dass das Gelände für zwei Stunden evakuiert werden musste. Mittlerweile ist aber alles wieder unter Kontrolle, die Party läuft weiter.

Ich habe es in diesem Jahr wieder nicht geschafft, habe aber auch gute Gründe. Die „Kleine“ bekommt nachher ihr Abitur und nimmt uns abends mit zum Ball. Das geht schon mal vor. Die nächsten Tage sehen für auch eher nach Pool im Garten als nach tanzen bei fast 40°C in Lärz aus. Und die Musik gibt es ja trotzdem, um sie hören zu können.

Hier also wie jedes Jahr eine Playlist, in der alles landet, was in diesem Jahr in Lärz aufgenommen und auf Soundcloud veröffentlicht wurde. Damit ihr sie nicht machen müsst. Ich aktualisiere die Liste fortlaufend, da kommt ganz ganz sicher noch ganz ganz viel dazu. Im letzten Jahr waren es am Ende fast 400 Sets. Die, die ich in diesem Jahr besonders gerne mag, blogge ich dann wie immer auch wieder gesondert. Damit kommen wir dann musikalisch alle gut über das Jahr, denke ich.

Und ich kloppe mich jetzt mal eben in meinen Anzug – kann mir gerade nichts „Schöneres“ vorstellen. Kommt gut durch die Hitze. Bis gleich.

Gestern sein neues Album „Reveries“. Downbeats auf gaaaaaaanz entspannt, bisschen Piano und viele kleine Melodien. So mag’s ich. Und immer noch unter CC. So, wie das früher in der Zeit der Netlabels war. Hach.

Ich war damals schon voll in diesem Berliner Techno-Zirkus unterwegs und dann gab es dort in Prenzlberg, in einem komplett kaputten Altbau, eine Wohnungstür mit genau diesem Aufkleber. Never forget. Und das gehört für mich irgendwie alles zusammen.

Wie sah der Prenzlauer Berg unmittelbar nach der deutschen Wiedervereinigung aus? Diese Ausschnitte aus einer Reportage von 1991 zeigen einen Stadtteil im Umbruch: verfallene Altbauten, marode Hinterhöfe, leerstehende Wohnungen und eine Bevölkerung zwischen Hoffnung und Sorge.

Über 145.000 Menschen leben damals im dicht besiedelten Bezirk Prenzlauer Berg. Tausende Wohnungen gelten als dringend sanierungsbedürftig. Während Politik und Wirtschaft über die Zukunft des Viertels diskutieren, fürchten viele Bewohner*innen steigende Mieten und die Verdrängung aus ihrem Kiez.

The early web was a different place. People built websites about their cats, their favorite TV shows, their rock collections. There were no algorithms deciding what you’d see. No engagement metrics. No content strategies. Just people sharing what they loved with whoever happened to stop by.

That spirit never fully went away. There are still people out there hand-coding HTML, tending personal sites, and linking to each other through webrings, blogrolls, and link pages. But finding those sites has gotten really hard. Search engines bury them under commercial results, and most people have been convinced that the only way to have a presence online is through someone else’s platform.

The change in color happened due to the demands of television transmissions. In 1972 television was already in color all over the world (although in Spain it was not generalized until five or six years later). At the end of the 1960s, the person in charge of the BBC broadcasts (which, of course, was in charge of Wimbledon) was the renowned documentary filmmaker David Attenborough. And he noticed that the visibility of the traditional white ball was not perfect, especially if it approached the lines of the rectangle of play.

In that year of 1972, tennis was in full growth: the professional and amateur circuits had unified and women’s professional tennis was also growing. Tennis was becoming a great world spectacle and in this context television was fundamental. The International Tennis Federation, in charge of the rules, commissioned a study which showed that the yellow ball was more visible and therefore easier for viewers to follow. The courts, moreover, began to be multicolored once the use of synthetic materials in official tournaments was approved.
