As if this wasn’t enough, animator Seán Doran then spent another 12 hours smoothing each frame, all 2,400 of them, resulting in this awe-inspiring tribute to the gas giant. Time well spent.

Ein KommentarIch war mein Leben lang noch nie in einem Autokino. Auf Usedom bin ich hin und wieder mal an einem vorbeigefahren, aber hatte nie das Bedürfnis, mich da mal reinzubegeben. Autokinos kenne ich aus Filmen, aus alten Filmen. Dort wurden sie immer als etwas Romantisches gezeigt. Irgendwie aber scheint die Zeit der Autokinos vorbei zu sein.
Die Fotografin Lindsey Rickert war in ihrer Kindheit wohl ziemlich oft in Autokinos. „Autokinos waren ein Eckpfeiler meiner Kindheit. Fangen spielen unter der Leinwand, viel zu viel Popcorn essen, oder, in Betttücher gehüllt, während einer Doppelvorführung einschlafen – Autokinos waren immer etwas Besonderes“, sagt sie. Und weil dem so ist, hat sich Rickert im September 2014 auf einen Roadtrip begeben, der sie 65 Tage lang durch 32 Bundesstaaten 12.000 Meilen zurücklegen lies, um 28 verfallende Autokinos zu fotografieren. Im Macro Room haben sie sich ein Aquarium hingestellt, in dem sie verschiedenste Tinten miteinander mischen, wobei sie die Kamera draufhalten – und das sieht verdammt gut aus. Eigentlich noch viel besser.

Ich mag die Techniken, die Leute nutzen, um alte Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografien zu colorieren. Das macht alte Fotos lebendig, holt die alten Bilder ins Heute. Auch wenn die im Original meistens schon beeindruckend waren.
