In Manhattans Stadtteil SoHo gibt es ein 220m² großes Apartment mit hohen Decken, Holzböden, einer Dachterrasse, fancy Inneneinrichtung mit raumhohen Weinkühlschrank und einer mit Büchern gefüllten Bibliotheksecke. Aber: dort lebt niemand. Das Penthouse dient einzig und allein als Fotokulisse für Instagramer, die es wohl auch fleißig nutzen. Aktuell ist die Hütte bis Oktober ausgebucht, verschiedene Nutzer haben dafür 15.000 Dollar gezahlt.

The photographs of the apartment taken for this article, when viewed alongside the Instagram posts that resulted from photo shoots in the same space, give an idea of how the social media sausage is made. The apartment points to a future where Instagram moves further away from a do-it-yourself aesthetic toward a look that is more staged and polished.
