Retrovex macht aus allen möglichen Vintage-Klängen Ambient. Für die Nostalgic Soundscapes Serie hier mit der ersten Episode, die sich einzig an den Sounds bedient, die Windows 95 uns damals beschert hat. Welch großartige Idee. Noch nie klang Windows so schön.

„Bliss“, über das berühmteste Hintergrundbild der Welt

Kennen wir alle, auch wenn ich es (zum Glück) auf einem Rechner lange nicht gesehen habe. Arte mit einer kurzen Reportage über das berühmteste Hintergrundbild der Welt und wie es vielleicht dazu kam. Denn ob das so als solches tatsächlich zu kalkulieren war, weiß wohl keiner ganz genau.

2001 kaufte Microsoft dem amerikanischen Fotografen Charles O’Rear ein Bild ab. Das Motiv: ein sattgrüner Hügel, darüber ein strahlend blauer Himmel mit weißen Wattewolken. Aufgrund seiner beruhigenden Wirkung wurde „Bliss“ zum Hintergrundbild des Betriebssystems Windows XP gewählt. Aber ist diese idyllische Szenerie tatsächlich ein Sinnbild der Natur? Der Autor des Fotos und die Kunsthistorikerin Estelle Zhong Mengual ordnen für „Mit offenen Augen“ die Geschichte dieses legendären Hintergrundbilds ein.

Hintereinanderweg Windows 1.01 bis zu Windows 11 installieren, timelapsed

Ein paar Jahrzehnte Windowsinstallationsroutine in sechs Minuten. Ich kann mich an die frühen davon noch erinnern, bin aber mit XP aus- und komplett auf OSX umgestiegen. Aus guten Gründen. Aber so ein kleines bisschen Nostalgie schadet ja nie.

Here’s a video where I install every major Windows version from Windows 1.01 all the way up to Windows 11, with a clean wipe for Windows XP x64 Edition. Please note that NT 4.0 and 2000 were not included due to their nature as server-focused systems. VMware Fusion was used to do this video.
