Hier war es die Tage bisschen ruhiger. Vorm Sommer fährt bei mir arbeitsmäßig immer so ein bisschen Stress rein. Der von dem Guten. Mein Träger wurde viel zu kurzfristig für einen Stand auf dem Ehrensache Festival eingeladen. Zu Pfingsten. Bestes Sommerwetter. Da haben nicht wirklich viele Kolleg:innen Bock drauf, aber irgendwelche von diesen, die halt trotzdem denken, dass es gut wäre, dabei zu sein, machen es dann doch. Meistens die gleichen. Weil es irgendwie auch muss. Klar. Dann muss halt bisschen vorbereitet und logistisch organisiert werden. Eigentlich wollte ich das Wochenende mit dem Bulli unterwegs sein, aber naja…

Ich hatte vor drei Tagen dann die gar nicht mal so glorreiche Idee, ein paar Graffiti Leinwände zu bauen. Aus Orga-Gründen allein. Blöde Idee, denn am Ende waren es fünf, die einfach mal eben zwei Tage Arbeit in Anspruch genommen haben. Zwischendrin musste ich 70 Kilometer auf dem Rad verbringen, weil ich Mittwoch so dumm war, dass Geld nicht mitzunehmen, was ich am Donnerstag für den Offline-Kauf von Kannen gebraucht hätte, die Farbe auf die Wände bringen sollten. Aber irgendwer muss halt.

Jetzt ist der Bums rum, die Walls waren der Kracher, Stress fährt runter. Nun Pause, morgen kommen Freunde, Pulled Pork dafür ist mariniert. Im Garten rumhängen.

Und irgendwann dazwischen fuhr mir die neue Single von OK KID rein. „Hör nie auf“. Die dürfte an nicht wenige von uns adressiert sein – und ich hoffe einige von euch fühlen sich erwischt. „Ein fick die AfD gewinnt am Dorfplatz keine Bambis.“ Für alle anderen gilt: hört nie auf damit!

Die Kassetten-Box vergammelte samt Kassetten später dann im WG-Keller an der Glienicker Brücke, was mich rückblickend etwas traurig werden lässt.

In ein paar Tagen erscheint mit „Trink aus, wir müssen gehen!“ ein letztes Album der Hosen. Anlässlich dessen gibt es in der ARD-Mediathek die Doku Die Toten Hosen – Das letzte Album. Unten der Trailer dazu.

So nah und persönlich wie nie zuvor: Die Toten Hosen, eine der prägendsten und erfolgreichsten deutschen Bands, haben sich im Studio bei den Aufnahmen zu ihrem letzten Album „Trink aus, wir müssen gehen!“ begleiten lassen. Der preisgekrönte Regisseur Eric Friedler filmte Campino, Andi, Breiti und Kuddel beim Komponieren und Texten an ihrem musikalischen Nachlass.
„Die Vorstellung, das ist das letzte Mal, dass wir ein Album machen, das ist schon etwas Besonderes“, hebt Bassist Andi Meurer die Tragweite des Vorhabens hervor.

But once they were in the office, they tossed most of those plans. „If you put instruments in our hands and there are people,“ Dave Grohl jokes, „it’s fun to play!“

Kommunikatives Wochenende. Freitag mit Besties und drei Buddeln Rum am Lagerfeuer übers Meeresrausch und all dem ganzen Drumherum gesprochen. Lange vor dem Gig mit den Macher:innen des La Grange e.V.‘s über das La Grange. Sonntag sehr früh auf dem Rückweg im Zug zehn vor 0600 Uhr mit Dipl.-Ing. Henrik, Chief Executive Officer, der während ich nach Hause er beruflich nach Düsseldorf wollte und seinen Rechner aufklappte. Um zu arbeiten. Ich laberte ihn voll – auch weil ich Angst davor hatte, einzupennen und irgendwo im Nirgendwo aufzuwachen. Wäre mir wohl auch passiert, wäre er nicht gewesen. Politisch erst zurückhaltend, bis ich merkte, dass er diesbezüglich auf der selben Bahn wie ich schwimmt. Später rauchten wir vorm HBF Berlin noch eine gemeinsam, bevor ich nach Hause und er weiter nach Düsseldorf machte.

Wichtiges Wochenende. Gerade im Osten brauchen wir Läden wie das La Grange, die wie viele andere hier aktuell um ihre Existenz bangen müssen. Die machen unter anderem Jugendarbeit. Ehrenamtlich. Haben Siebdruck-, Fahrrad-, Vintage-Tech- und Street-Art-Werkstatt in allen Facetten. Neben einer kleine Street-Art- und Vintage-Tech-Galerie kümmert man sich dort um Integrationsarbeit. Aktuell haben sie dort nicht mal feste Sanitäranlagen, was, wenn sich der politische Wind dreht, was er aktuell ja auf jeden Fall tut, das Ende von all dem bedeuten könnte. Oder bedeuten wird.

Es war eine tolle Nacht, die wirklich junge und – mit Verlaub – halbalte Menschen wie mich zu verbinden wusste. Freaks, Nerds, Liebhaber:innen guter Musik und vielen Menschen, die einfach für das brennen, was sie lieben. Wir müssen dafür sorgen, dass man uns Enklaven wie diese nicht wegnimmt; Punkt.

Fans begannen Anfang dieser Woche, Fotos der Poster im Reddit-Thread „Boards of Canada“ zu teilen, bevor Warp Records, das langjährige Label der beiden, die Spekulationen bestätigte, indem es gestern ohne jeglichen Kontext ebenfalls Fotos der Poster teilte.

Auf jedem der Poster befindet sich in der unteren Ecke ein sechseckiges Logo. Das gleiche, das auf mysteriösen VHS-Kassetten zu sehen war, die letzte Woche über den Vertriebsdienst von Bleep an regelmäßige Käufer von Warp-Veröffentlichungen verschickt wurden.

Ein Fan bemerkte, dass die verzerrte Musik des Tapes eine Stimme „rückwärts“ gespielte Version von „Little Star“ von The Elegants sei, das das schwer fassbare schottische Duo in ihrem „Societas X Tape“ verwendete, einem zweistündigen Mixtape, das 2019 auf NTS Radio ausgestrahlt wurde.

Offiziell ist das alles noch nicht, aber es würde mich wundern, wenn dann jetzt bald ein neues Album kommen wird. Es würde auf „Tomorrow’s Harvest“ im Jahr 2013 folgen, das ebenfalls mit einer kryptischen Vorabkampagne angekündigt wurde. Wenn das mal kein Grund zur Vorfreude ist.

Seit Jahrzehnten nimmt ein gewisser Aadam Jacobs alle möglichen Live-Konzerte auf. Seine Sammlung von über 10.000 Konzerten seit 1984 umfasst Aufnahmen von Künstlern wie Nirvana, R.E.M., Tracy Chapman, den Pixies, Björk, Depeche Mode, Sonic Youth, The Cure und ganz vielen anderen. Dank der Unterstützung von Archivaren wird die gesamte Sammlung nun im Internet Archive veröffentlicht. Was für eine Fundgrube. Die Qualität der Aufnahmen schwankt, aber man hört halt immer die Live-Atmosphäre. Hier bei Tracy Chapman live im Cabaret Metro, 07.05.1988.

The growing Aadam Jacobs Collection is an internet treasure trove for music lovers, especially for fans of indie and punk rock during the 1980s through the early 2000s, when the scene blossomed and became mainstream. The collection features early-in-their-career performances from alternative and experimental artists like R.E.M., The Cure, The Pixies, The Replacements, Depeche Mode, Stereolab, Sonic Youth and Björk.

There’s also a smattering of hip-hop, including a 1988 concert by rap pioneers Boogie Down Productions. Devotees of Phish were thrilled to discover that a previously uncirculated 1990 show by the jam band is included. And there are hundreds of sets by smaller artists who are unlikely to be known to even fans with the most obscure tastes.

All of it is slowly becoming available for streaming and free download at the nonprofit online repository Internet Archive, including that nascent Nirvana show recording, with the audio from Jacobs’ cassette recorder cleaned up.

Every dot is a real subway train. Eight hundred of them, give or take, form a small jazz combo (walking bass, piano, sax, vibes, brushes) that has been playing without pause for over a hundred years. On the platforms they are hot, screaming, full of complaint. This is the music inside the noise.

This recording comes from a rare night in Moscow, at A-Club — January 1999. It survived almost by accident.

As Anton Kubikov once told me, when Herbert realized the set was being recorded, he wasn’t happy. He started pushing the low end, overloading the bass, trying to disrupt the tape. Anton, at the sound desk, carefully pulled it back. A quiet duel — artist vs tape recorder.

What remains is more than a DJ set — it’s a raw fragment of a moment when a new sound was emerging, long before the idea of digital permanence.
