There are hundreds and hundreds of Science-Fiction movies out there. But hardly any film has such a cult status as „Back to the Future“. Today it’s time to follow in the footsteps of Marty McFly and Doc Brown. Let’s visit the legendary filming locations of this legendary movie – 37 years later.

1985 sorgte der erste Teil von „Zurück in die Zukunft“ für Rekordumsätze an der Kinokasse. Heute ist die Trilogie Kult. Ein Erfolg, den kaum einer erwartet hatte: Das Drehbuch wurde seinerzeit über 40 Mal abgelehnt, der erste Hauptdarsteller nach wenigen Tagen gefeuert und die Dreharbeiten im Akkordtempo absolviert.
Für „Zurück in die Zukunft – Wie ein Film zeitlos wurde“ besuchten Olivier Bonnard und Nathalie Amsellem die Drehorte und sprachen mit den Menschen, die damals an dem Film mitwirkten: Zu Wort kommen Darsteller, Autoren, Kulissenbauer – und sogar die Interpreten des Kultsongs „The Power of Love“!
Die Dokumentation versteht sich nicht nur als Making-of, sondern enthüllt auch neue Facetten des Streifens, den man längst auswendig zu kennen glaubte.
Unter dem Deckmantel einer familientauglichen Science-Fiction beschäftigt sich „Zurück in die Zukunft“ mit Themen wie Rassentrennung, Sexismus und soziale Ungleichheit. Steckt hinter der Botschaft, dass nichts unmöglich sei – wer will, legt sich sogar eine neue Familie zu –, ein Loblied an den American Dream? Oder kritisiert der Film damit die Auswüchse des kapitalistischen Amerika wenige Jahrzehnte vor dem Triumph des Trumpismus?
In „Zurück in die Zukunft – Wie ein Film zeitlos wurde“ offenbaren die damaligen Mitwirkenden ihre eigene Version dieser Erfolgsstory und erklären, warum der Film auch heute noch auf Resonanz stößt.

Die DeLorean Motor Company lässt mitteilen, sie wird im Jahr 2017 300 neue DeLoreans in die Autohäuser dieser Welt bringen. Billig werden die nicht, der Preis wird aktuell unter $100K taxiert. Die Originale, von denen 1982 um die 9000 verkauft wurden, kosten aktuell $45,000 – $55,000.

News reports out of Humble, Texas, say the automaker plans to make about 300 replicas of the 1982 DeLorean that has not been in production for 34 years. The company has remained in business by refurbishing old DeLoreans — about 9,000 were originally sold — for enthusiasts.

“It’s fantastic. It is a game-changer for us. We’ve been wanting this to happen,” DeLorean CEO Stephen Wynne told TV station KPRC2 in Houston, saying it is possible under a new low-volume manufacturing bill approved by the federal government. “That was a green light to go back into production.”

Wynne said he wants to build about four cars a month.

Refurbished DeLoreans cost $45,000 to $55,000. The replicas will cost closer to $100,000 when they go on sale in early 2017.

Immerhin aber gibt es bei Instructables jetzt die Bastelanleitung, wie man sich eine Jacke machen kann, die sich selber justiert. Sieht nicht ganz schick aus wie im Film, aber man kann halt nicht alles haben.

Ever since 1985, we’ve wanted two things: a DeLorean and a Flux Capacitor. Well, they don’t make DeLoreans anymore (at least, not the original company), and Flux Capacitors are just a thing of imagination. Until now. That’s right – we’re offering you this authentically-replicated, fully-functional unit straight from the brains of Dr. Emmett Brown. Okay, so it doesn’t really time travel… at least, we don’t think it does.

You’ll have to pump in your own 1.21 gigawatts (pronounced and written in the script as „jigowatts,“ which was the accepted pronunciation at the time) to actually travel in time – and that’s up to you. Or you can be content to just pop in 3 AAs and use the knob to adjust the lights. Details down to the warning messages from Doc Brown stuck to the front door will awe anyone who sees it. So get one now, put it in your car, and see what happens. Just make sure not to mess around with your parents – or else you may spawn sequels.

Nike hat angekündigt in diesem Jahr mit dem Nike Air Mag den originalen Treter von Marty McFly in die Läden bringen zu wollen, den dieser in „Zurück in die Zukunft 2“ getragen hat. Mit automatischer Lasche und Blinki-Gedöns.

Klar ist, dass diese Teile wohl exorbitant teuer werden. Vielleicht ist auch deshalb jetzt eine No Name Bude auf diesen Zug aufgesprungen und bietet die Schuhe mit Blinki-Gedöns, ohne automatische Lasche und ohne Nike an. Dafür haben sie sich extra eine Lizenz zugelegt. Die Kosten dafür sind mit nicht mal $100 durchaus überschaubar. Der optische Mehrwert allerdings leider auch.

The shoes you wear say a lot about who you are. Marty McFly’s shoes say, “I’m a time jumping adventurer with style that’s literally ahead of my time.” You used to have to borrow a DeLorean time machine from Doc Brown just to get a pair, since they’re only available to residents of the year 2015, but we pulled a few strings. (We may, or may not own a time machine ourselves after pulling said strings). Anyways, to make a long story short, we have them available now, and they have all the features and flair you’d expect from future shoes. Without giving a release date, Tinker confirmed that his team is working as hard as possible to deliver the Nike MAG in 2015 with Power Laces, but also reminded us all that we still have “11 and two-thirds months left in 2015″. In other words – it is happening, but as to when, it is still unknown.
