Steffen aka Filburt habe ich hier schon des Öfteren im Blog gehabt. Schon vor Jahren wollte ich einen Mix von ihm, was aber irgendwie nicht geklappt hatte und Rudi dachte nun, es wäre mal wieder an der Zeit, nochmal nachzufragen. Und siehe da: hat geklappt.

Ich mag sehr, dass Filburt musikalisch enorm breit aufgestellt ist und man eigentlich im Vorfeld nie genau weiß, was man von ihm bekommt. Es ist ein bisschen so wie du gute alte Wundertüte. Und wenn wir die hier öffnen, haben wir das perfekte Gimmick zum ersten Advent. Downbeats, Breaks, bisschen HipHop und hintenraus dann Fauna Flash. Weiß gar nicht, wie lange es her ist, dass ich die mal in einem Mix gehört habe. Ein paar Jährchen dürften das schon sein. Stilistisch bringt sein Mix alles mit, was entschleunigt. Technisch einwandfrei zu einer verdammt angenehmen Stunde verwoben.

Und wenn Filburt nicht gerade Platten aneinanderwebt betreibt er mit O*RS ein Label, dessen Veröffentlichungen immer ein Ohr und meistens sogar einen Kauf wert sind.

For this years Chillhop Essentials Summer compilation, we gathered 30 artists on our boat to share their best Summer treats.
We had a great mix of classic artists as well as newcomers diving in for this collection. This selection of songs is by far our most eclectic and innovative one to date.

Das ist doch mal eine Idee für ein Brokenbeat-Mixtape, der deutlich Überlänge mit sich bringt: ein zwölf Stunden langes Video, das Autobahnfahrten aus der Perspektive eines LKW-Fahrers zeigt. Dazu dann Instrumental HipHop, Lofi, Dope- und jede Menge Downbeats.

Suhov hat die Winterschuhe angezogen und ist für seine „Night Beats“ eine Stunde im verschneiten Wald spazieren gegangen. Später hat er dazu Dopebeats, Nu Jazz, instrumentalen und nicht instrumentalen HipHop auf die Bilder gemixt. Und ich muss sagen, dass ich mittlerweile echt ein bisschen Fan von seinem Konzept bin, seine Mixe zu visualisieren. Ist halt so, als würde man mit diesem Sound auf den Kopfhörern durch den Wald laufen.

Während des Kalenders ist hier generell wenig Platz für andere Musik, aber dieses kleine winterliche Kunstwerk will ich schon dennoch mit drin haben. Bei Mixcloud auch ohne Video und zum Download. Lädt.

Saetchmo lud gestern zum fünfjährigen Jubiläum seiner Echochamber in die Berliner Zyankali Bar. Das war recht nett, bisschen plaudern, bisschen Gin tonicen, bisschen Musik. Mir war gar nicht so sehr nach Echo, weshalb ich ein einfach mal auf Bypass gestellt und ziemlich viel instrumentalen Hip Hop gespielt habe. Und weil einige fragten: gut 80% der Tracks kommen von dem großartigen englischen Netlabel Pragmatic Theory, über das ich hier schon lobhudelte.

Leider ist das Dingen nicht sonderlich gut gemixt. Nennen wir es einfach „Mixtape“.

Damals hatten wir Netlabels, die im Geiste von Creative Commons Musik verschenkten. Heute haben wir Labels, die auch ganz ohne irgendwem im Geiste Musik verschenken. Fuck ©, Fuck CC. Hauptsache Musik unter die Leute bringen. Und wenn es so sein soll, dann eben für umme; Punkt. Punkt und Download.

Ich hatte die Tage verhältnismäßig viele Mails, die nach der Tracklist für meinen „Hofgretchen„-Mix fragten. Manche davon beantwortete ich. Eigentlich ist dieser Mix recht einfach gestrickt. Gut die Hälfte der dort inkludierten Tracks kommen von einer Compi, die von Pragmatic Theory ins Netz gepumpt wurde. „Horizons“ heißt die und wurde auf Bandcamp veröffentlicht. Die Nummern sind mit maximal 3 Minuten alle recht kurz, reichen als Mix-Tools allerdings allemal aus, zumal die durchweg großartig sind.

Damit aber nicht genug. Pragmatic Theory veröffentlichen so gut wie alles auf Bandcamp. Meistens für Pay what you want. Und dabei lohnt sich jeder Euro, den auszugeben man bereit ist. Wenn der nicht da ist, geht’s auch ohne. International bestückt bringen die dort großartiges Zeug aus den Genres Dopebeats, instrumental HipHop, Soul Beats und und und immer den Joint in Griffnähe. Der Output von denen ist wirklich exorbitant großartig! Und ich lade mich gerade blöde.

UK based label Pragmatic Theory began as a movement for the love & appreciation of music & inspiration from the talent found within the SoundCloud community. In 2012 marked the first compilation being a Curtis Mayfield tribute released as both an album (mcs/beatmakers) and a beat tape. Not long after, the Pragmatic Theory bandcamp platform continued to release alternating compilations to support both underground scenes that shared the same love for music as well as independent artist releases. Continuing to be blessed with many talented artists/beatmakers as well as a loyal fan base, growth of the label opened up another opportunity to venture into vinyl & physical releases. Today the ethos of the collective & label remains the same, to provide a platform to promote underground artists & share with listeners new & innovative music. All for the love of music & the beat culture.
