In this video I build a custom PC but design a new case for it and make it kinetic. This is my gaming computer, editing computer, and everything in between. I have spent the last couple months getting the mechanical engineering portions figured out for this custom PC build since I have no idea what I am doing but wanted to make a really complicated design. I have had the idea for a kinetic computer case for a while and after seeing the one from Cyberpower I was excited to try and design and build my own. This is an Arduino project that is actually pretty simple but the mechanical engineering side is difficult having to work within such a constrained space.

Strandbeest Evolution 2025 provides an update on the evolutionary development, which is going on since 1990.. Every spring I go to the beach with a new beast. During the summer I do all kinds of experiments with the wind, sand and water. In the fall I grew a bit wiser about how these beasts can survive the circumstances on the beach. At that point I declare them extinct and they go to the bone yard.

This kinetic sculpture is about 11 feet in diameter and was commissioned by Citizen for their new building in downtown Oklahoma City. The nighttime shots are from my studio before I shipped it, and the daytime one is taken right after installation. The lobby is now finished, complete with couches to lounge in, so make sure you stop by if you are in the neighborhood!

The ceiling is 20 feet high and Cadence has a single electric motor which pulls on 216 strings to create a fluid waveform. I tapered the maple links on a lathe. This is the first time I used an open cell hexagonal matrix for the wave and I was really happy with the fluidity of this pattern. Because the links intersect at 120 degrees there is more freedom of movement than in the tumbling block pattern I’ve previously used in other hexagonal arrays. Cadence is nearly silent.

Set in motion by fans, the tape undulates and shimmers across the ground, creating a hypnotic effect that blurs the boundaries between solid and fluid forms, embodying Kempinas‘ fascination with movement and materiality.

This Conservation Reserve and one of the oldest religious sites in the world is located in the Northern Territory of Australia in the locality of Warumungu about 105 km (65 mi) south of Tennant Creek, and 393 km (244 mi) north of Alice Springs.

Since the beginning of this summer I have been trying to connect several running units (Ordissen) in succession. Animaris Rex is a herd of beach animals whose specimens hold each other as defense against storms. As individuals they would simply blow over, but as a group the chance of surviving a storm would be greater. It is 18 meters long (5 meters longer than the largest Tyrannosaurus Rex found.)

But where Doucet sees true potential is in larger-scale commercial buildings and even cities. “Instead of the typical retaining walls along roads and freeways, you’d have an array of these,” says Doucet, who says he’s in conversation with several manufacturers to help him bring the product to market. “With the added wind boost from trucks, our highways could take care of all our energy needs.”
