Ich lass das mal hier und gehe später vielleicht auch einfach mal raus. Einen Schneemann bauen. Oder so.

In 2022 nearly half of Americans expected a civil war in the next few years, one in five now believes political violence is justified. And it is not just the US but around the world. People increasingly see themselves as part of opposing teams.

There are many different reasons for this, but one gets blamed a lot: social media. Social media divides us, makes us more extreme and less empathetic, it riles us up or sucks us into doom scrolling, making us stressed and depressed. It feels like we need to touch grass and escape to the real world.

New research shows that we might have largely misinterpreted why this is the case. It turns out that the social media internet may uniquely undermine the way our brains work but not in the way you think.

Die BBC war für „Scene“ 1983 in London unterwegs und hat mit Protagonisten aus der Punk-, Skin- und Goth-Szene über sich, ihr Erscheinungsbild, ihre Einstellungen und die Toleranz der anderen gesprochen. Außerdem begleitet sie eine junge Frau dabei, wie sie zum Punk wird und währenddessen reflektiert, wie die Außenwelt darauf reagiert.

Scene takes to the streets of London, to find out how youth subcultures like punks, goths, rudies, skinheads and new romantics dress to express their outsider status. Should the way they dress really elicit such negative reactions from employers, pub landlords and the more conventionally-attired members of the population? Or should we all learn to be a bit more tolerant?

Ein Teil dieser Zukunftsidee, die 1972 vom ZDF gesendet wurde, ging vor ein paar Jahren schon mal rum. Ich hatte das hier auch irgendwo. Allerdings in auf 9 Minuten irgendwas komprimierter Version. Im Laufe dieses Jahres wurde die Sendung komplett auf YouTube geparkt.

Die 25 Stunden-Woche fehlt!
