Sean Wang hat mal wieder ein Dorf besucht. Bei Kaohsiung in Taiwan. Seine Mutter ist dort aufgewachsen, seine Oma hat dort gelebt. Irgendwann sind fast alle von dort weg, nur sehr, sehr wenige geblieben. Diese wenigen hat er besucht und über ihre Beweg-, oder besser Nichtbeweggründe gesprochen.

„Still Here“ was filmed in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, in the village where my grandmother lived, my mother grew up, and where I spent my childhood summers. Nine years ago, my grandmother moved out of the village. Recently, I discovered that not only did nobody move into my grandmother’s house after she left, but that the entire village had been displaced and decayed for years, except for a few residents who refused to leave. I was curious to find out what their lives were like now that the village was abandoned, and why they decided to stay.

Als der LKW-Fahrer hätte ich wahrscheinlich ein schlechtes Gewissen, das natürlich total unsinnig wäre, weil so ein LKW so eine Brücke halt niemals zum Einsturz bringen könnte, wenn die okay wäre. Der Fahrer desselbigen wurde wie mindestens 11 andere Menschen verletzt, fünf Menschen werden noch vermisst.

Aktuell werden die Ursache des Zusammenbruchs sowie Hinweise auf Schäden in der Vergangenheit geprüft.

Maintenance consultants responsible for the bridge had in previous years found rusted cables, and several connected points had been hit by vehicles and damaged, according to The Liberty Times.

The consultants had reported the problems several times to the harbor administration, but did not receive a reply, the newspaper reported. The public affairs office of the Su’ao Port branch office of the Taiwan International Ports Corporation declined to comment on the report.

Ich spiel schon lange kein PokemonGo mehr und bin immer wieder erstaunt, wie viele dennoch auch nach dem damaligen Hype dabei geblieben sind. So wie dieser Herr hier, der erst mit dem Spielen begann, als die meisten von uns schon damit aufgehört hatten. Heute bedient er 12 Smartphones gleichzeitig auf seiner Jagd nach Pokemons. Bis vor einer Weile war er dafür mit dem Fahrrad unterwegs, aktuell mit dieser beeindruckenden Halterung zu Fuß.

Vor zwei Jahren in Taiwan: ein kleinerer Tornado fegt über eine Straße hinweg und reißt die komplette Szenerie samt Kleinwagen mit sich. Ach. Du. Scheiße!

Terrifying dashcam footage captures the moment that several pedestrians and vehicles are swept into a powerful tornado. These tornadoes were a part of Typhoon Soudelor. The woman left sitting on the road was seriously injured by the tornado while the others involved suffered only minor injuries. Dashcam was not configured properly, hence the incorrect display date.

Six new ‚officers‘ have been hired to commence their training to become part of NPA’s K9-Bomb Unit. All six officers were born on the 9th of May, and are named Lucky Star, Schumann, Feida, Brother, AJ and Full Moon.

„We hope that in the future the puppies can be like their mother Yellow, that they can pass through training successfully and enter the police force,“ the NPA said in a post on Facebook.

Ohne Aroma, dafür mit all dem Dreck, den der Mensch so ins Wasser bekommt. Drei Studenten an der National Taiwan University of Arts, sammelten Abwasser in ganz Taiwan und machten daraus quasi Eis am Stiel für ihr Projekt mit dem Titel „Polluted Water Popsicles„.

Hung and her teammates visited 100 locations across Taiwan to collect waste. They then placed the samples—complete with dirt, bugs, and trash—into a freezer, turning them into popsicles. In order to preserve them, they encased the popsicles in a polyester resin.

Hung tells Quartz she hopes the project will raise awareness about water pollution. Her team chose to use popsicles as a motif because they are translucent and because popsicles typically look appealing to the eye. “Such pretty popsicles, would you still want to eat them?” she asks.
