Vor 11 Jahren (Hahahaha! ÖLF!!!) schrieb ich hier über eine Fotoserie von Christoper Herwig, für die er in Russland unterwegs war, um dort individuelle Bushaltestellen zu fotografieren, die in der ehemaligen Sowjetunion gebaut wurden. Fand ich höchst spannend. Nun kommt eine Doku, die mit jenem Christoper Herwig ihren Fokus noch ein mal genau darauf legt; auf Bushaltestellen in der Sowjetunion. Und die werde ich mir aus ganz persönlich nostalgischen Gründen ansehen.

Die Veranstalter Michael Lang (inzwischen verstorben), der 1969 schon das „richtige“ Woodstock-Festival ausrichtete, und sein Geschäftspartner John Scher kommen ausgiebig zu Wort, aber auch Journalist*innen, Künstler*innen und Festivalbesucher*innen. Aus Aufnahmen von damals und mehr oder weniger reflektierten Rückblicken auf das Geschehen aus heutiger Sicht entwickelt sich ein alptraumhafter Sog, der das ungute Gefühl perfekt vermittelt, das von Beginn an über dem Festival hing. Dass die Katastrophe eintreten musste, schien von Anfang an klar. Die Frage bestand nur darin, wann und wo.

Sommer 2020, alles steht still, Festivals wie Fusion, Meeresrausch, Wilde Möhre fallen ersatzlos aus. Die Macher und Künstler hängen komplett in der Luft und müssen sich, so wie es irgend geht, irgendwie übers Jahr bringen und dabei über Wasser halten.
Jean-Pierre Meyer-Gehrke hat mit „Stille Sommer“ einen Dokumentarfilm gemacht, der Einblick hinter die Kulissen von Festivals im Lockdown gibt – und irgendwie sind wir auch dabei.

Stille Sommer feiert heute Weltpremiere auf dem Freiland Festival und sollte der Film es hier in der Nähe in irgendein Kino schaffen, werde ich dorthin gehen. Wobei ich ja hoffe, dass sie den nächste Woche auch auf dem endlich wieder stattfindenden lieblingsweltschönsten Meeresrausch Festival zeigen werden. Das nämlich hat auch eine Hauptrolle in der Doku.

Offizieller Trailer zum nicht autorisierten KLF Dokumentarfilm Who Killed The KLF?, der jetzt auf allen möglichen Streamingplattformen bei iTunes zu sehen ist. Regisseur Chris Atkins startete das Projekt 2016, The KLF waren nicht sonderlich zufrieden damit und sie versuchten, die Veröffentlichung zu verhindern, was misslang. Mein Plan fürs Wochenende jedenfalls. Schließlich gehört das Album „Chill Out“ zu den wichtigsten Alben meiner musikalischen Sozialisation.

“Who Killed the KLF?” uses previously unheard tapes to explore the rise and fall of the KLF in the 1980s and 1990s, touching upon themes that perfectly capture the 21st century zeitgeist. The film is a fascinating insight into the machinations not only of Jimmy Cauty and Bill Drummond, but of art, culture, and capitalism. A tale as intriguing as it is bonkers, “Who Killed the KLF?” will entice, intrigue and shock audiences everywhere.
