In Nordamerika finden seit Monaten so genannte „The People’s Convoys“ statt für die Trucker Konvois in Städten bilden, um so ihrem Unmut gegen die Corona-Schutzmaßnahmen Ausdruck zu verleihen und für eine Beendigung der Auflagen zu demonstrieren. Mal fernab der Frage, wie sinnvoll es ist, dafür mit LKW-Konvois durch die Straßen von Städten zu gurken, hat sich in Washington DC ein Fahrradfahrer vor einen dortigen dieser Konvois gewagt und die ganze Angelegenheit etwas langsamer fahren lassen. Die Hupen funktionieren.

Die Bürgermeisterin von Washington DC hat einige Menschen damit beauftragt, auf der städtischen 16th Street ein riesiges „Black Lives Matter“ auf die Straße zu malen. Der Schriftzug erstreckt sich über zwei Blöcke und liegt so auf einer zentralen Achse, die direkt nach Süden zum Weißen Haus führt. Wow.

The massive banner-like project spans two blocks of 16th Street, a central axis that leads southward straight to the White House. Each of the 16 bold, yellow letters spans the width of the two-lane street, creating an unmistakable visual easily spotted by aerial cameras and virtually anyone within a few blocks.

Eintopf ist ja nicht so meins. Ich steh einfach nicht drauf. Andere offenbar schon, zahlte doch Montag ein Kunde in Washington, D.C. für einen Gumbo im Blue 44 nicht weniger als $2000 Trinkgeld. Hat wohl gemundet.

And the anonymous patron told Nardelli that he did it because he is “very happy with what we’ve built and that he’s proud to be a customer.”

The restaurant posted a picture of the gumbo on Facebook Thursday, hoping to bring in some new customers thanks to all the publicity.

“The now famous Generosity Gumbo!” they wrote. “Chicken and Andouille sausage gumbo is still on special, so stop by and try a bowl of your own!”
