To celebrate the one year anniversary of Bonobo’s five-night residency at London’s Royal Albert Hall in their 150th year, we present the official recording of his performance.

Bonobo’s residency at the Royal Albert Hall became the longest continuous run of performances for a solo musician, and the longest run ever for an electronic artist.

Focusing on tracks from his most recent album ‚Fragments‘, as well as songs from his wider catalogue, the film also includes the impromptu moment when the organist Anna Lapwood joined the band for ‘Otomo,’ on the venues famed pipe organ.

At 1am on Friday 20th, someone called up asking me to play Bach’s Toccata in D minor. It turned out it was Bonobo’s band. 12 hours later they had written me an organ part, and 18 hours later I was helping them close their show to an audience of 5000. This was, undoubtedly, the best moment of my life so far…!

Today, Bonobo has announced Fragments, a new album coming out via Ninja Tune on 14th January 2022, released the first single from the project, „Rosewood,“ and announced the 2022 Fragments Live Tour which is touching down in major cities across North America, the UK and the EU.

Last year Bonobo and I spent a couple of days in the studio, after traveling and camping together in the Icelandic highlands, with no intention other than to spend some quality time with music. Loom is one of the songs that came from those sessions and as time passed, and I started writing the rest of the album, I kept coming back to it.

The video is centred around three young couples, in three separate 24-hour periods as they spend an entire day together in one motel room with no phones, televisions, or other distractions. Each comes with their own unique histories, proclivities, and dynamics. We watch their intimate looks, conversations, and touches – juxtaposing their subjective passions with the indifferent transient space of a single motel room.

Since the turn of the millennium, Simon Green has been crafting a breathtaking discography, marking him out as one of electronic music’s most remarkable talents. Across six studio albums he’s shown a flair for producing sounds that are both steeped in emotional resonance and able to energise a dancefloor. Whether he’s alone at the controls or conducting orchestral arrangements, Green instils a depth of feeling into his tracks that always hits the spot.

His most recent Bonobo album, ‘The North Borders’, was a worldwide sensation, topping electronic charts across each side of the Atlantic, and sparking a tour which cut a path through four continents and 30 countries. An estimated two million people saw the 12-piece Bonobo band in action, with audiences left stunned in their globe-trotting wake.

Now Bonobo’s seventh album ‘Migration’ is on the horizon, scheduled for release through the label he’s made home, Ninja Tune, on January 13. As the title suggests, the record draws upon international influences, exploring themes of humanity and spatially defined identity within characteristically stirring tracks.
A residency at renowned New York club Output and numerous Outlier dates in many more of the world’s finest venues has also provided the opportunity to road test the tracks and ensure their dancefloor impact. Green’s DJ sets draw upon this wealth of back catalogue gold, as well as the variety of spellbinding records he’s collected over the years, to form moving musical trips.

Ich habe gestern auf Arbeit so ganz nebenbei schon das heute neu erschienene Bonobo Album „Migration“ hören können. Dabei war es ringsum eher hektisch und laut, so dass die Musik nicht ganz den Weg zu mir fand. Nicht nur auf akustischer Ebene nicht den Weg zu mir fand. Heute ist das anders und nun gibt es die Platte auch im Stream. Eine abschließende Meinung dazu habe ich noch nicht. Es ist eine dieser Platten, die man vielleicht erst 2-3 mal hören muss, um ein Gefühl dafür entwickeln zu können. Egal, in welche Richtung dieses dann gehen mag. Ich glaube, wir, das Album und ich, sind gerade auf einem sehr guten Weg, verdammt gute Freunde werden zu können.

Der großartige Bonobo wird am 13.01.2017 auf Ninja Tune sein neues Album „Migration“ veröffentlichen. Das Video zu „Kerala“ ist der erste Vorbote und verspricht, sich auf einem Album wiederzufinden, dass seinem grandiosen Vorgänger, „North Border“ in nichts nachstehen wird.
