Slices Live Special: Bugge & Friends

Bugge Wesseltoft, der mit „Yellow is the colour“ einen Song geschrieben hat, den ich mit auf eine einsame Insel nehmen würde, wenn ich nur drei Songs dürfte, spielte hier mit Freunden im Neuköllner Heimathafen. Wäre ich gerne bei gewesen.

Norwegian pianist Bugge Wesseltoft has combined jazz and electronic music for nearly 20 years. When given the opportunity to do another collaborative project, he brought together those he considered friends and great inspirations: legendary French trumpeter and Blue Note artist Erik Truffaz, Turkish saxophonist and Nublu founder Ilhan Ersahin and New York’s eclectic DJ/Producer Joaquin “Joe” Claussell. Slices Live Special returns to Electronic Beats TV for this very special performance recorded at Heimathafen Neukoelln, Berlin.

Slices Feature: Funkstörung

Wie schon erwähnt, ist „Additional Productions“ von Funkstörung vielleicht eines der wichtigen Alben meines Lebens. Jetzt sind Chris De Luca und Michael Fakesch nach gut 8 Jahren Funkstille (Der musste sein.) mit neuem Album zurück und Slices spendiert ihnen im Rahmen dessen ein dieses kurze Feature.

After 10 years of separation, Funkstörung are back in business and Electronic Beats TV has the scoop! This is a particularly notable reunion, not only because it coincides with the 10th anniversary of Slices, but also because Chris De Luca and Michael Fakesch were the very first artists filmed in the series. Over the course of numerous EPs and albums, not to mention remixes for the likes of Jean-Michel Jarre, Björk, A Guy Called Gerald and Wu-Tang Clan, Funkstörung has developed a trademark sound that combines syncopated rhythms with spaciously constructed sounds. On their new album, which is set for release on Modeselektor’s Monkeytown label, De Luca and Fakesch display musical progression while maintaining their signature style.

Slices Tech Talk: Stimming

Martin Stimming dürfte sich in den letzten Jahren nicht nur wegen seines epischen Tracks „November Morning“ in diverse Köpfe gespielt haben. So hat er nicht nur ein außergewöhnliches Händchen für gute Musik, sondern offenbar auch eine sehr pragmatische und sympathische Art, diese zu produzieren. So ganz ohne die 7,8 Tonnen alter Hardware, die für Videos dieser Art ja gerade wieder en Vouge werden.
