Welch fiese Ironie. BP hatte zu Beginn der 70er die Famose Idee, ein Brettspiel an den Markt zu bringen, in der man Monopoly ähnlich mit Bohrinseln hantieren konnte. Im Kreis der Familie. Die Reinigung nach einem Spill wurde mit $1 Million Dollar veranschlagt und ich wette, BP würde sich wünschen, wenn es heute damit getan wäre.
It’s interesting to consider that the aura around offshore drilling at the time must have been pretty different from today — you’d think it was dangerous, alluring, adventurous by the board game — someone thought this game would be a good idea, maybe even hit. It wasn’t, and evidently was pretty unpopular. But it nonetheless remained as a slightly prophetic, and ironic artifact from a company that’s now touted as being Beyond Parody.

Es gab auch noch das Spiel „Öl für uns alle“, ebenfalls aus den 70ern, in dem Reinigung nicht vorkommt. Da war der Enthusiasmus noch naiv. Ich muss aber zugeben: hat Spaß gemacht.
