Das wohl erste „How-To“ Video aus dem Jahr 1930, das mir jetzt, fast 100 Jahre später, zu erklären weiß, wie man ein Monokel trägt.

Long before YouTube tutorials, influencers, and instructional videos, Fox Movietone News produced this remarkable short film in 1930 explaining the proper way to wear a monocle.

In this rare and often unintentionally funny newsreel, Count Scriber Ryzsuki demonstrates the art, etiquette, and social decorum of monocle wearing—offering a fascinating glimpse into a world where even eyewear had strict rules and traditions.

This footage has been carefully restored, enhanced, and colorized to bring the nearly century-old film back to life while preserving its original charm.

CeBit Home 1998

Ich war berufsbedingt in den 00er Jahren mal auf der CeBit und weiß bis heute nicht genau, was ich dort eigentlich sollte. Vielleicht gab es damals so einen Vibe, dass man dort einfach mal gewesen sein müsste – viel gegeben jedenfalls hat mir das damals nicht. Alles sehr Business-orientiert, wenn ich das richtig in Erinnerung habe.

Hier ein Video von der CeBit Home 1998. 3sat war da und alles daran wirkt gemessen an heute sehr schön unschuldig und entspannt.

Toast-Sandwich

Ein Toast-Sandwich, auch Brot-Sandwich genannt, ist ein Sandwich, bei dem die Füllung zwischen zwei Brotscheiben selbst aus einer dünnen Scheibe geröstetem Brot besteht, die mit Butter bestrichen werden kann. Ein Rezept aus dem Jahr 1861 empfiehlt, Salz und Pfeffer hinzuzufügen. Für den Geschmack. Eine Variante davon wird im britischen Drei-Sterne-Restaurant The Fat Duck serviert. Ich mach mal eben Frühstück. Aber anders.

A recipe for toast sandwiches is included in the invalid cookery section of the 1861 Book of Household Management by Isabella Beeton, who adds, „This sandwich may be varied by adding a little pulled meat, or very fine slices of cold meat, to the toast, and in any of these forms will be found very tempting to the appetite of an invalid.“
