Metallica bringen limitierten Plattenspieler

The Metallica Team reached out to us and chose Pro-Ject as their partner for a Metallica-themed record player.
Pro-Ject Audio Systems is proud to announce the Metallica turntable.
We treated the surface of this deck with a mirror-finished metal logo contour that gives the player its distinctive look. The S-shaped tonearm is fitted with a detachable headshell to allow quick cartridge changes.

Wie klingt eigentlich ein schwarzes Loch?

Offenbar ziemlich genau so:

Since 2003, the black hole at the center of the Perseus galaxy cluster has been associated with sound. This is because astronomers discovered that pressure waves sent out by the black hole caused ripples in the cluster’s hot gas that could be translated into a note – one that humans cannot hear some 57 octaves below middle C. Now a new sonification brings more notes to this black hole sound machine. This new sonification – that is, the translation of astronomical data into sound – is being released for NASA’s Black Hole Week this year.

Musikalisch übersetzt dann doch deutlich freundlicher.

Jams from the 80’s: Recreated on Synthesizers

The 1980’s was a prolific period for music. This collection of recreations explores a few of my favourite jams from a decade that was dominated by synthesizers and drum machines.

Ghostsigns

Advertisements painted by hand directly onto the brickwork of buildings were once a common sight in cities, towns and villages across the country. The rise of printed billboards soon led to their decline but many still survive, often faded, clinging to the walls that host them. These ‘Ghostsigns’ provide a window into the past and evidence of the craftsmanship that once went into their production. However, they are disappearing fast, often due to weathering but also as a result of property development and demolition.
