GTA 3 on a Volumetric Display

Auf wundersame Weise faszierend.

The software is based on the RE3 source. I added a software voxeliser to RenderWare which does most of the work, but there were also a bunch of hacks to the game to get the camera to do something reasonable – it’s not a general solution that could be dropped into any RW title.

I’m revisiting this because lots of people were disappointed that I didn’t move the camera in the previous „on a“ video. The next one will be something new.

Analog Record Visualizer

Ich habe als Schüler für die Messe der Meister von Morgen mal eine Lichtorgel gebaut. So mit Glimmstartern für Neonröhren und bunten Glühbirnen. Das Ding zappelte dann in fünf Farben und brachte mich auf den zweiten Platz des jährlichen Schulwettbewerbs, was mich außerordentlich stolz machte.

Dieser Analog Record Visulizer von Petru Design erinnerte mich gerade daran, auch wenn der natürlich deutlich bunter und sehr viel moderner ist. Grundsätzlich kann der auch nicht sonderlich viel, sieht aber hübsch aus – und manchmal reicht das ja schon.
