Liam Quigley hat eine Leidenschaft für Pizza und ist gerne bereit, diese mit der Welt zu teilen. So dokumentiert er auf Instagram jedes einzelne Stück Pizza, das er in den letzten neun Jahren gegessen hat und veröffentlicht seine damit gemachten Erfahrungen in Form von Daten auf seinem Blog. Geile Idee, wie ich finde. Ein Bekannter von mir hat hier mal ähnliches mit Gewürzgurken gemacht, aber irgendwann dann sein Blog dichtgemacht. Nur falls jemand mal Ähnliches vorhaben sollte.

Starting in 2014, I logged every slice of pizza I ate in New York City on the Instagram account NYC Slice. The results shown below are collected from 464 slices. Over an eight-year period the average price of a plain slice increased from $2.52 to $3.00. This calculation excludes dollar slices.

The most expensive was a $6.53 pepperoni slice at Artichoke Basille’s Pizza’s Times Square location, and it was fine. I did not rate the slices to avoid controversy and bribes. The biggest thing I have noticed is the decline in the amount of sauce put on slices. I’m sure this is a cost-saving measure, but the overall quality of your average slice in the city has definitely suffered. However, in no particular order, these are some of the better slices in the city.

Blizzard macht aus Häusern Eisskulpturen

Ein Schneesturm und extreme Kälte der letzten Tage haben in den USA dutzenden Menschen das Leben gekostet. Eine echte Besserung der Verhältnisse ist aktuell nicht in Sicht. Diese Drohnenaufnahmen aus New York zeigen Häuser nach einem Blizzard, die dann wie künstliche Eisfiguren aussehen. Irgendwie ganz hübsch, aber eben und vor allem aber auch apokalyptisch. The Day After Tomorrow 2022.

Kolorierte Fotos aus der Weihnachtszeit von 1910 in New York

Vlacz hat sich einige Fotos aus dem Jahr 1910 genommen, die damals um die Weihnachtszeit beim Einkaufen entstanden sind. Dann wurde die Bildqualität “nach oben geholt” und die Fotos wurden koloriert. Eine kleine nostalgische Reise in Farbe.

Looking at these old Christmas photos from 1910 in New York it’s hard not to feel a sense of nostalgia, It’s amazing to think how much has changed in the last 100 years, and yet in someway how much stayed the same, there’s something touching about seeing these photos, These Photos are a wonderful glimpse into a bygone era.

I colorized , restored ,upscaled the photos to 4k Quality and applied face restoration and did audio mixing for this video

Aufnahmen vom Bau des Empire State Buildings in Farbe

90 Jahre her und hier nun bearbeitet und nachkoloriert.

This film is a compilation of restored, enhanced & colorized film footage involving the construction of the Empire State Building (ESB) in New York nearly a century ago.
It shows how the base of the building is laid, how all parts are produced in nearby steel works, how steel parts are riveted together, the dangers of working at such high construction altitudes and the completion of the ESB.

E-Bike auf U-Bahnschiene führt nach Kollision mit U-Bahn zu Explosion

In einer New Yorker Subway-Station hat irgendein Depp letzte Nacht ein E-Bike auf die Schienen geworfen und es dort sich selber überlassen. Das wird ja da nicht alleine hingekommen sein. Jedenfalls fuhr später eine U-Bahn ein und fuhr über des elektrische Rad, was zu einer Explosion führte, wobei darüber diskutiert wird, ob das an der explodierenden Batterie des Gefährtes oder an der Elektroleitung der Bahn gelegen haben könnte. Auf jeden Fall hat es mächtig geknallt und ich würde in so einem Fall nur sehr ungerne in der Bahn sitzen wollen.

New York 1945 in Farbe [60fps, Remastered]

Kurze Zeitreise ins New York der 1940er Jahre. Restauriert, in Farbe, mit Sound.

The right turn at 0:41 is onto 8th Avenue, traveling south. The turn appears to be around 50th Street. The Squire Theater, first visible in the distance on the right at about 1:20, was between 43rd and 44th. The Times Theater, visible at about 2:30, was showing The Princess And The Pirate, with Bob Hope and Virginia Mayo, which was released in November 1944. The Arena Theater, on the next block at 2:45, was on 41st Street. The film ends at 31st Street.

Wassermassen in der Subway New York

Ausläufer des Hurrikans “Ida” haben in New York nicht nur die Subway unter Wasser gesetzt, die aber ist ganz besonders davon betroffen. Ihr Verkehr wurde fast gänzlich eingestellt, Autos schwimmen durch die Straßen, tausende Haushalte haben keinen Strom, die Stadt hat den Notstand ausgerufen. Liest sich wie ein Scrpit, die Fotos und Videos erinnern auch eher an einen Film, der halt keiner ist.

»Wir erleben heute Abend ein historisches Wetterereignis mit Rekordregen in der ganzen Stadt, brutalen Überschwemmungen und gefährlichen Bedingungen auf unseren Straßen«, teilte Bürgermeister Bill de Blasio mit.

Doku-Trailer: All the Streets Are Silent

New York in den 1990ern, Skateboarding trifft auf HipHop. Kinostart war im Juli. Ob das Ding auch hierzulande in die Kinos kommen wird, entzieht sich gerade meiner Kenntnis. Sehen würde ich das schon ganz gerne.
