Die „Rotating Kitchen“ des niederländischen Künstlers Zeger Reyers war eine Installation mit einer Küche in originaler Größe, die sich um 360 Grad dreht und von einem mechanischen System angetrieben wird. Während sie sich dreht, wandelt sie sich von perfekter Ordnung zu totalem Chaos. Diese beschleunigte Version des Videos zeigt Menschen, die sich um die Küche versammelt haben, um dabei zuzusehen, wie sie sich einmal vollständig dreht. Meine Küche sieht ähnlich aus, wenn ich am Kochen bin – auch ohne sich zu drehen.

Kiffen am Campus von San Diego im Jahr 1978. Mit Headshop, wie ich sie auch noch aus dem Berlin der 1990er kenne und in denen wir immer unsere Ice-Bongs gekauft haben. Je größer, desto besser.

April 24, 1978 Bill Selby talks to students on the campus of UCSD. They were smoking marijuana out in the open. It was illegal but gadgets to smoke it were not. A man explains how they work. Folks on the street weren’t as willing to discuss it. Even Governor Jerry Brown weighed in and told Bill it was a generational thing. Future San Diego police chief Bob Burgreen said no one had ever lit up in front of him but if he thought it was going to happen he let them know who he was–and then they don’t–he laughed.

The Palisades fire between Santa Monica and Malibu on the city’s western flank and the Eaton fire in the east near Pasadena are already the most destructive in Los Angeles history, burning nearly 28,000 acres so far – an area exceeding the size of Disney World – and turning entire neighborhoods to ash. At least five people have been killed, thousands of structures have been incinerated and nearly 180,000 people have been ordered to evacuate their homes, officials said.
