Ich sitze hier gerade mit einem gar nicht so kleinen Hüngerchen und sehe Alex Delany dabei zu, wie er durch New York zieht und dabei in 36 Stunden 23 Stücken Pizza von verschiedenen Pizzabäckereien probiert, um zu gucken, wo es die beste gebackene Teigscheibe mit Belag gibt. Ich kann mir Schlimmeres vorstellen. Und vielleicht gucke ich gleich mal, wie viele Pizzerien es in dieser Stadt hier gibt. Mhmmm… Pizza!

4 Kommentare Ich hatte hier vor genau einem Jahr den TED-Talk mit Sam Van Aken, in dem er über seine Ambitionen spricht, einen Obstbaum durchzukreuzen, der dann später irgendwann mal vielleicht 40 verschiedene Früchte trägt. Offenbar ging sein botanisches Gespür auf. National Geographic hat ihn und seine Idee besucht. Es ist Sommer – einige der Früchte gedeihen.
Ein Kommentar„Sam Van Aken, an artist and professor at Syracuse University, uses „chip grafting“ to create trees that each bear 40 different varieties of stone fruits, or fruits with pits. The grafting process involves slicing a bit of a branch with a bud from a tree of one of the varieties and inserting it into a slit in a branch on the „working tree,“ then wrapping the wound with tape until it heals and the bud starts to grow into a new branch. Over several years he adds slices of branches from other varieties to the working tree. In the spring the „Tree of 40 Fruit“ has blossoms in many hues of pink and purple, and in the summer it begins to bear the fruits in sequence—Van Aken says it’s both a work of art and a time line of the varieties‘ blossoming and fruiting. He’s created more than a dozen of the trees that have been planted at sites such as museums around the U.S., which he sees as a way to spread diversity on a small scale.“
Nachdem ich heute Mittag den Tech Talk mit Martin Stimming hatte, schrieb mir Frithjof, der mit Harun Hazar gerade ein Portrait über ihn online gebracht hat. In diesem redet er im Speziellen eher über seine Arbeitsweise und wie Musik für ihn funktionieren sollte. Über Technisches hier nur am Rande. Dennoch sehr sehenswert, was wohl auch an Stimming selber liegt.
Ich vermute, dass das Video auch aufgrund seiner Arbeitsweise mit dem Stift zustande kam, aber das nur am Rande.
Ein KommentarMixmag sorgt gerade für den Stream dieses Remixes, den Robag Wruhme für Flight Facilities‘ „Two Bodies“ gemacht hat. Schönes Ding, wie eigentlich immer, wenn Wruhme etwas aus seinem Studio in die Welt entlässt.

‚Two Bodies‘ features the vocal talents of Emma Louise and has been transformed by German king of weird and wonderful techno, Robag Wruhme. His ‚Endera Wassaby‘ remix is a frankly beautiful composition and follows Robag’s winning formula.
He slices and dices the track and adds a whole new level of depth by combining utterly serene synths with abrasive yet magical tones. It’s a hard one to describe so listen below and fully immerse yourself in Robag’s intelligent vision, you won’t be disappointed.

3 KommentareBerlin native Kolja Kugler learned his craft in the early 1990s, when he worked alongside the Mutoid Waste Company, an “anarcho-punk” performance art group that transformed scrap metal into creative sculptures. His current pet project is the One Love Machine Band, a pneumatically controlled robot band that plays real instruments, which means he used old car parts and junk metal to construct a set of moving, wind-powered humanoid sculptures that make music on the bass guitar and drums.
Erstaunlich, wen der Tobi für seine wöchentliche Sendung immer so zu Rate zieht, wenn es um den exklusiven Mix für seine Show geht. Dieser hier lief letzte Nacht und kommt vom Chilenen Fantasna, von dem ich heute Morgen zum erstem Mal gehört habe. Dafür aber ist der Mix mehr als überzeugend. Sehr klassisch daherpumpender Deep House mit einigen Vocals und wenigen Breaks. Groovt recht locker in die Woche, das Ding, auch wenn es hin und wenig ein wenig stolpern mag.

Tolles Feature über The Record Loft in Kreuzberg, von dem ich bisher noch gar nichts gehört hatte. :/ Macht aber nichts, denn EB.TV gibt einen kleinen Einblick in den Second Hand Plattenladen, der offenbar besser läuft, als die Macher sich hätten vorstellen können. Nice one. Nur der Vergleich von Nacktheit und mp3 ist eher so naja, aber ich werde dort trotzdem bei Gelegenheit mal rein gucken.
