Neulich in Brasilien: „Everything happened on the Rio Santos highway. We were going to the center of town when we were faced with two cars stopped, motioning to go slow. A sloth was starting to cross the road.“ Es sieht aus, als würde es Flieger spielen.
Ein KommentarAuf der Folly Farm in Pembrokeshire, Südwales, hat man sich entscheiden, gealterten Faultieren ein Heim zu geben, in dem sie ganz entspannt ihren Lebensabend verbringen können. Auch ein Grund, mal nach Wales zu fahren.

Instead of taking on young breeding pairs, the special facility aims to give ‘silver sloths’ a place to relax – and help conservation efforts by freeing up zoo enclosures for younger breeding pairs.
And the farm already has two elderly residents – an adorable male and female pair called Tupee, 24, and Lightcap, 34, who is currently the fifth oldest sloth in any European zoo.

If you’re ever nervous about taking that extra bathroom break at work, just be grateful you aren’t the brown-throated three-toed sloth! These guys literally risk their lives to defecate, which is why it only happens every eight days. Using the bathroom means venturing out of the treetops and down onto the forest floor where they become twice as vulnerable to depredation by jaguars and harpy eagles. Luckily, sloths have an extremely slow metabolism and a diet low in calories meaning long waits to use the bathroom aren’t an issue.

Das erst ein paar Tage alte Faultierbaby namens „Tiny“ wurde am Strand gefunden und danach in die Obhut von Kids Save the Rainforest gegeben, wo es hoffentlich aufgepäppelt werden kann.
Tiny is the smallest sloth the sanctuary has ever cared for. …Arriving back at the sanctuary he was given an examination and fed fluids to stabilise him. Despite his size Tiny is a little fighter, and has to go everywhere with Sam, staying attached even when she’s doing the housework.
