Musik aus alltäglichen Geräuschen gibt es nun schon länger und wir alle haben davon schon jede Menge gehört. Collagen, die aus dem Sound von Skateboards gemacht werden, sind aber zumindest mir neu bisher. Bonamaze hat sich für die Umsetzung dieser Idee nicht weniger prominente Unterstützung als die von Tony Hawk geholt und alles mal durch den Sampler gejagt: The Sound Of Skateboarding.

Im Jahr 2017 bohrten die Wissenschaftler des britischen Antarctic Survey-Projekts BEAMISH ein 900 Meter langes Loch in den Rutford-Eisstrom, um Erkenntnisse darüber zu sammeln, wie schnell das Eis schmilzt und wie die Verformung des Eises stromabwärts verläuft. Dann haben sie eine GoPro in das 900 Meter tiefe Bohrloch abgeseilt, die interessante Aufnahmen mit faszinierendem Sound geliefert hat.
BEAMISH tackles two aspects of uncertainty; first, the past behaviour of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, and second, the flow of the fast “ice streams” that drain it. Through measurements at the ice surface, and by drilling to the bed of Rutford Ice Stream, we will find how long ago the ice sheet last disappeared completely, and how water and soft sediments underneath it helped the ice move fast on its journey to eventually melting in the sea.

Schönes Projekt, das der Audio Producer vom Yellowstone National Park (Der Yellowstone National Park hat einen Audio Producer!) pflegt. Der nämlich sorgt dafür, dass es mittlerweile eine Audiobibliothek gibt, die Sounds aus dem Park sammelt und zum kostenlosen Download anbietet. Wer also auf Tierstimmen und Naturgeräusche steht, dürfte dort ohne weiters fündig werden. Dann schmeißt mal die Sampler an.
Four years ago, the park teamed up with the Acoustic Atlas at Montana State University to put together a public domain library of ambient sounds from across the nearly 3,500-square mile US park.
The result? A goldmine of ambient samples ranging from bursting geysers to delicate birdcalls, swirling snowstorms and croaking amphibians, all for free and at your finger tips.

2 KommentareNew York Portraits in Form von emotional bewegenden Videos gibt es dutzende. Die wenigsten davon, allerdings, kommen mit dem originalen Sound, der die Stadt auch nicht wenig mit ausmacht. Lukas Willasch macht das mit seinem „Tune in New York“ mal anders und bringt die Soundfragmente zu den Bildern. Schöne Idee.

Die Idee hier zu ist nicht ganz neu, aber in diesem Fall verdammt gut umgesetzt. Sound Designer Matt McCorkle hat mit Sound Voyage eine kleine Browserspielerei gebastelt, mit der man sich vom Büro aus Soundscapes zusammenstellen kann. So begibt man sich akustisch auf Steppen, in Wälder oder ans Meer. Was man halt so mag. Dazu gibt es dann ein paar schöne Effekte wie Delay, Chorus und Reverb, die diese Soundscapes noch intensiver lassen. Schönes Ding, ich bin dann mal am Meer und drehe am Delay.

Großartige Soundscapes, die, wenn man diesem Video glauben mag, auf einem Eisbrecher in der Arktis entstanden sind. Rauschen, Eisrisse, fallender Schnee und eisig heulender Polarwind. White Noise. Ambient wie er natürlicher nicht sein kann und ein schöne Sample-Grundlage.

Geile Idee von Ideoforms, der anlässlich des 20-jährigen Jubiläums von Windows 95 einfach mal die Starttöne von Windows 95 bis zu dem von Windows XP durch die Bremse gejagt, und um das 40fache verlangsamt hat. Ich könnte mir vorstellen, dass man auf dieser Basis ganz wunderbare Ambient-Nummern frickeln könnte.
