Video: Max Cooper – When I Sit Alone. In My Thoughts. I Am Crushed.

Ziemlich düsteres Video, das Simon Kounovsky zu dem nicht weniger düsteren Sound von Max Cooper, der Teil seines gerade erschienenen Album On beig ist.

The quote arrived on my album website after I asked “What do you want to express, which you feel you can’t in everyday life?”. Using thousands of anonymous quotes, my On Being album attempts to capture the experience of being human, now.

This was one of the first quotes from the database that reached out and grabbed my guts and squashed them. I had to tackle it, and I immediately contacted Aho Ssan with the idea, because his approach to music contained some of the intensity and noise elements that I felt were needed to deliver the quote.

It was submitted anonymously, so over the past few years I had a story in my mind about who submitted it and why. But then ahead of the Bristol show I heard from Robbie Evans, the writer of the words, who I met at the show. If any of you submitted any of the words in the project I’d love to hear from you so I can put a face to the name of the words I’ve spent my last 3 years with.

Es ist wieder so weit: neue Jahreszeit = neue Chillhop Essentials. Dann hoffen wir mal, dass der Frühling alsbald an die Tür klopfen wird, damit wir ihn mit weit geöffneten Armen empfangen können. Im Hintergrund darf dann sehr gerne diese Compilation laufen.

Chillig für den Sonntag. InFiné mit einer ganz wunderbaren Ambient Compilation. Musik zum Knuddeln.

Ambient music lies at the very core of InFiné. We’re devotees of the great Brian Eno, raised on the 4AD label, and nurtured on KLF’s pioneering Chill Out and Aphex Twin’s Selected Ambient Works on Warp. Ever-curious listeners, we soaked up the German vibrations of early Ash Ra Tempel before diving into the abyssal basslines of Moritz Von Oswald or the stark minimalism of Pole.

Later, we encountered other wizards around the globe: Murcof in Mexico, Loscil in Canada, Kaito in Japan, Biosphere in Scandinavia, and more recently Kmru in Kenya. This music forms a central thread in our catalog, sitting alongside more rhythm-driven electronic styles, innovative classical hybrids, and increasingly even pop. In Ambient, the role of sound is more vital than in any other genre! Each note needs ample space to resonate, and every piece immerses you in the pure essence of its sound. These tracks stretch time by using minimal resources to create a profound experience. Here, silence is part of the composition, offering a depth and richness unlike anything else.

DJ Koze – Buschtaxi

Als letzter Song von DJ Koze vor der Veröffentlichung seines Albums „Music Can Hear Us“ erscheint mit „Buschtaxi“ heute als 12″-Vinyl und digitale Single. Das offizielle Visualizer-Video zum Song wurde vom Hamburger Filmemacher Schierhorn kreiert, der für seine künstlerisch anspruchsvollen Arbeiten bekannt ist. Seine Werke verbinden stets Musik und visuelle Kunst auf besondere Art und Weise. Und ich meine, wie kann’s denn passender ins Wochenende gehen? Schmeckt ein bisschen nach Frühling.

Angie Stone – Wish I Didn’t Miss You

Aus gegebenem Anlass. Als ich letzte Nacht nach der Sauna auf dem Weg nach Hause war, musste ich lesen, dass die großartige Angie Stone nach einem Auftritt in Alabama bei einem Verkehrsunfall ums Leben kam. Ich machte für den Rest der Fahrt dann diesen Song an, der zu den mir zehn liebsten Lieblingssongs aller Zeiten gehört. Und der lief bis nach Hause dann in Schleife.
