VHS: The Prodigy – Electronic Punks

Kleine Zeitreise in die 1990er und in das damalige Universum von The Prodigy.

Electronic Punks is a video by the British electronic band The Prodigy, released on VHS in 1995. It includes videos, live performances and rehearsals. Electronic Punks was broadcast on MTV.

The live sections of the video were recorded at The Apollo in Manchester, the DeMontford Hall in Leicester, Town & Country in Leeds & the Brighton Centre in Brighton all on the band’s Poison Tour. Towards the very end of the VHS tape, after the final credits (which uses the music from the Prodigy track „We Eat Rhythm“), a documentary is shown, which involves the making of the music video to the song Poison.

Yagya in 90 minutes zu Bewegtbildern aus Island

Vor nun schon 14 Jahren machte ich aus der Liebe zur Musik des Isländers Yagya diesen Mix aus seinen Tunes, in der er die perfekte Symbiose aus Ambient, Dub und Techno zusammenführt. Er hat sich seitdem weiterentwickelt, bleibt dieser uniqueen Handschrift allerdings bis heute treu. Und auch wenn ich heute ein anderes Soundverständnis als vor 14 Jahren habe, liebe ich seinen Sound nach wie vor. So muss es wohl auch Jeff gehen, der sich für diesen Mix der Musik von Yagya bedient und sie mit Bewegtbildern aus Island untermalt. Schön passende Kombination.

Music for programming

Music for programming schenkt uns Ambient und Downbeatmixe, die sich locker fluffig beim Programmieren weghören lassen. Ich bin mir aber sicher, dass die auch gehen, wenn man nicht am Coden ist. So beim Kochen am Wochenende zum Beispiel. Oder halt auch einfach nur so.

Schlagzeugerin spielt zu RATMs „Bulls on parade“, ohne den Song vorher gekannt zu haben

Ich weiß immer nicht, wie es sein kann, derartige Songs vorher nicht gehört zu haben, aber dem ist bei manchen offenbar so. Die Schlagzeugerin Jess Bowe gibt an, RATMs „Bulls on parade“ vorher nicht gehört zu haben und soll dazu trotzdem mal eben für Drumeo trommeln. Und sie liefert.
