Murmelbahn like a Pinball: Blue Marble 3

Murmelentusiast Kaplamino hat die letzten Monate damit verbracht seine neue Murmel-Kettenreaktionsmaschine zu bauen und vielleicht ist das die beste von allen, die er bisher zusammengebastelt hat. Hat teilweise sogar was von einem Flipperautomaten. Großer Murmelsport!

I didn’t post for two months, now you know why ! I present you my most ambitious project so far, blue marble 3 ! I’m out of my comfort zone this time because the chain reaction is taking place on two tables, and with 0 fidget spinners. It is the longest in terms of duration and the one that takes up the most space in my room. I tried to use a little bit of everything like rubber bands, magnets, and elements. I had so many failures that I stopped counting, as always only a few tricks were responsible for the majority of failures, can you guess which ones?

Geretteter Hund entpuppt sich als Wolf

In Estland haben drei Arbeiter vor ein paar Tagen einen Hund in einem zugefrorenen Fluß entdeckt und ihn kurzerhand aus dem Wasser gezogen. Sie packten den Vierbeiner in ein geheiztes Auto, trockneten ihn ab und brachten ihn in eine Tierklinik. Dort stellte sich raus, dass der Hund eigentlich ein Wolf ist.

“It was swimming on its own, we cleared a path for it through the ice. We had to carry him over the slope. He weighed a fair bit. It was a bit difficult because the ice did not carry us and we could not get away from the shore. He was calm, slept on my legs. When I wanted to stretch them, he raised his head for a moment,”

Nur ein paar entzückende Hundegruppenfotos eines Gassi-Geh-Services in New York

So Gassi-geh-Service-Angebote scheinen mir in Deutschland weniger populär als in den Staaten, aber vielleicht täusche ich mich da auch. Bei Saratoga Dog Walkers im US-Bundesstaat New York jedenfalls bieten sie das Gassi gehen in Rudelgröße an, so dass alle Doggos auch mal in großen Gruppen unterwegs sein können. Dabei entstehen dann ganz wundervolle Hundegruppenfotos, die man sonst nur selten zu sehen bekommt.

By meeting these needs on a daily basis, we start to see more well behaved, healthy, and well-rounded dogs! The program works with the dogs’ natural instincts to travel in a pack, but sadly, this primal ritual of dogs is something that most of our dogs never have the opportunity to do. By walking together on a regular basis, we’re creating a big family of well-behaved dogs in the local community!

GoPro-Aufnahmen einer Reise durch ein 900 Meter tiefes Bohrloch in der Antarktis

Im Jahr 2017 bohrten die Wissenschaftler des britischen Antarctic Survey-Projekts BEAMISH ein 900 Meter langes Loch in den Rutford-Eisstrom, um Erkenntnisse darüber zu sammeln, wie schnell das Eis schmilzt und wie die Verformung des Eises stromabwärts verläuft. Dann haben sie eine GoPro in das 900 Meter tiefe Bohrloch abgeseilt, die interessante Aufnahmen mit faszinierendem Sound geliefert hat.

BEAMISH tackles two aspects of uncertainty; first, the past behaviour of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet, and second, the flow of the fast “ice streams” that drain it. Through measurements at the ice surface, and by drilling to the bed of Rutford Ice Stream, we will find how long ago the ice sheet last disappeared completely, and how water and soft sediments underneath it helped the ice move fast on its journey to eventually melting in the sea.

Ratte bleibt in Gullydeckel stecken – und wird von acht Feuerwehrleuten gerettet

Im südhessischen Bensheim hatte ein Nager wohl noch die Reste des Winterspecks auf den Rippen und blieb in einem Gullydeckel stecken. Da sich das Tier nicht aus eigenen Kräften aus der misslichen Lage befreien konnte, wurde die Berufstierrettung Rhein Neckar und die Feuerwehr gerufen. Die kam mit acht Leuten brachte dem Tier die Freiheit zurück.
