Augenzucker: A Sense of Scale

Weil ich den Tab hier schon seit Tagen offen habe und es schade wäre ihn einfach nur so zu schließen: Roman De Giuli hat mit A Sense of Scale ein kleines visuelles Meisterwerk geschaffen.

A SENSE OF SCALE is a reminiscense to the famous „Sense of Scale“ documentary by Berton Pierce form 2011. As the documentary, my experimental short film is all about details and the beauty of practical effects. I want to emphasize the meaning of handmade visuals and the effort it takes to stage sceneries on a small scale. I captured very tiny areas of paint flowing on a piece of paper while zooming in the closest possible with a custom lens setup. All shots are taken with my RED DSMC2 in 8K and several macro lenses. It took me around 1 year to finish this piece. Color graded and optimized for HDR devices.

Ein Musikvideo, das mit Google Street View-Bildern aus der ganzen Welt erstellt wurde

Der Regisseur Adam Chitayat saß wegen Covid zu Hause rum und überlegte sich, wie er diese Zeit irgendwie sinnvoll nutzen könnte. Er verbrachte offenbar Stunden bei Google Street View, hörte diesen Song von Axel Bowman, dachte, dass er das ganz gut zusammenbringen könnte und schuf in der Tat ein wirklich beeindruckendes Musikvideo. Die Idee ist nicht neu, die Zeitraffer-Umsetzung dennoch mehr als gelungen.

I started crafting a project using entirely Google Maps Streetview Images. I viewed and downloaded the world from my desk, finding amazing spaces, altering, hand tracking and creating timelapses and shots.

Stop Motion: Mr Doodle doodled his entire house

Mr Doodle hat sein komplettes Haus gedoodelt, was nicht nur eine echte Fleißarbeit gewesen sein muss. Zusätzlich hat er dieses Stop Motion-Video von der Aktion gemacht, das ziemlich trippy ist.

I used 900 litres of white paint, 401 cans of black spray paint (for the outside), 286 bottles of black drawing paint (for the inside) and 2296 pen nibs (I only used four different sized pens but they were refillable and the nibs were replaceable).

The animation was created entirely by me and it consists of 1857 photographs, painstakingly taken between September 2020 and September 2022. The whole house is real, everything is doodled, the doodles were all hand doodled for the animation it’s not CGI.

Die McGloughlin Brothers mit einem zoetropischen Video zur aktuellen Bonobo Single „ATK“. Aufgenommen während diverser Zugfahrten in Portugal. Nice and trippy.

High shutter speeds and fast trains and the world is one big ZOETROPE.

We wanted to create a minimal film embodying ideas of serendipity and perception, allowing the world to reveal itself in unusual ways.
