Markos Kay macht kurze Animationen, für die er sich durch das Schaffen von Hieronymous Bosch inspirieren lässt. Sehr schön trippy.
Flora/Fauna (2022) is a series of animations and prints, inspired by the paintings of Hieronymous Bosch and the hybridization process found in neural networks. The series imagines the latent space of neural network associations as a hidden garden where otherworldly hybrid creatures and plants exist, as dreamt by artificial intelligences. Just like Bosch’s work interrogates the place of humans in the universe, this series questions our definitions of life and intelligence which may be limited by our anthropocentric biases.

This is the complete leaf sequence used in the accompanying short film LeafPresser. While collecting leaves, I conceived that the leaf shape every single plant type I could find would fit somewhere into a continuous animated sequence of leaves if that sequence were expansive enough. If I didn’t have the perfect shape, it meant I just had to collect more leaves.

It often causes those suffering from the condition to regard their surroundings as unreal, distant and distorted or in some way falsified.
It is theorised that Derealisation may affect everyone at least once in their lifetime, with a low percentage of the population possibly experiencing symptoms on a more serious and sustained level.

Einen Kommentar hinterlassenAls Kind habe ich Geometrie geliebt und war in der Schule, ganz anders als in den anderen Mathematik-Sektionen, ziemlich gut. Irgendwann habe damit aufgehört, mich dafür zu interessieren, wobei Geometrie auch noch Bestandteil meiner ersten Berufsausbildung war. Heute sehe ich lieber anderen dabei zu, wenn sie Geometrie aufs Papier bringen. So wie hier Künstler Zak Korvin, der uns traditionelle japanische Geometrie mit Zeichenansätzen im Zeitraffer zeigt. Ziemlich meditativ, ihm dabei zuzusehen – und ganz schön schön.

Weil ich den Tab hier schon seit Tagen offen habe und es schade wäre ihn einfach nur so zu schließen: Roman De Giuli hat mit A Sense of Scale ein kleines visuelles Meisterwerk geschaffen.
A SENSE OF SCALE is a reminiscense to the famous „Sense of Scale“ documentary by Berton Pierce form 2011. As the documentary, my experimental short film is all about details and the beauty of practical effects. I want to emphasize the meaning of handmade visuals and the effort it takes to stage sceneries on a small scale. I captured very tiny areas of paint flowing on a piece of paper while zooming in the closest possible with a custom lens setup. All shots are taken with my RED DSMC2 in 8K and several macro lenses. It took me around 1 year to finish this piece. Color graded and optimized for HDR devices.

Einen Kommentar hinterlassenDer Regisseur Adam Chitayat saß wegen Covid zu Hause rum und überlegte sich, wie er diese Zeit irgendwie sinnvoll nutzen könnte. Er verbrachte offenbar Stunden bei Google Street View, hörte diesen Song von Axel Bowman, dachte, dass er das ganz gut zusammenbringen könnte und schuf in der Tat ein wirklich beeindruckendes Musikvideo. Die Idee ist nicht neu, die Zeitraffer-Umsetzung dennoch mehr als gelungen.
