ABOVE betrachtet den Umgang mit den neuen Medien offenbar ähnlich kritisch wie Manfred Spitzer, allerdings packt er seine Kritik nicht in Bücher, die zu verkaufen es gilt, sondern malt seine Gedanken dazu fünf Tage lang auf eine Wand, macht 9000 Fotos davon und aus diesen ein Stop Motion Video, welches er auf Vimeo lädt um es von dort aus in die ganze Welt zu verteilen. Dieser Ironie ist er sich durchaus bewusst.

Not partaking in the aforementioned social media makes me an outsider looking in on how hyper frequent society uses its sacred social media. I can’t help but observe the people around me who appear to be consumed and addicted to trying to keep up to speed on their social media pages.

You check your Facebook page while driving. Tweet a message that you ‘just took a shower’. Instagram a photo of your double soy macchiato with extra foam and so it continues ad infinitum.

I have more questions than I do answers with social media. We live in a ridiculously hyper fast pace life where information is exchanged so rapidly that it makes us feel inadequate and drains our attention span. This painting was executed at the GALORE festival (werket.dk/galore/) in Copenhagen, Denmark. The painting is a time-lapse composed of over 9,000 photos and painted over a 5-day period. As irony has it this video will be reblogged and seen on social media outlets the world over. Enjoy and try to keep up.”

Welch beeindruckendes Schauspiel der Natur.

On January 22, 2011, the fifth lava pour took place using the #700 gas fired tilt furnace operated by the SU Sculpture Program. This 610lb pour was the most successful to date in terms of material consistency, volume, duration of pour, viscosity, duration of flow, structure of flow, etc. The lava was poured on to a 6” thick block of ice measuring 3.5’ by 10’. This pour was conducted for Prof. Ben Edwards, Dickinson College Earth Sciences Department. Prof. Edwards is a specialist in the area of lava and ice interaction.

Terry Widner schnitzt allerhand Dinge aus Holz und verkauft sie dann auf Etsy. Da ist ein Haufen Zeug bei, das zwar irgendwie schön aber nicht sonderlich praktisch ist. Und dieser Löffel, der auch nicht sonderlich praktisch und mit 95,00 EUR viel zu teuer ist. Aber hey, ein Charlie Brown Holzlöffel! Für die, die ihre Kindheit nie hinter sich lassen wollen.
