Mehrere Graffiti-Künstler haben letzte Woche in LA einen leerstehenden Wolkenkratzer in der Innenstadt gekapert und die Glas-Fassade auf mehreren Etagen von außen unter Lack gebracht. Mindestens 27 Stockwerke des teilweise fertiggestellten Gebäudes sind nun bunt.
Der leerstehende Komplex, der drei Türme umfasst und deren Bau vor fünf Jahren gestoppt wurde, weil Investoren das Geld ausging, sollte eigentlich Einzelhandels- und Hotelflächen sowie Luxusapartments und Eigentumswohnungen beherbergen. Stattdessen stehen die Gebäude unvollendet da. Die Graffiti Artists wollen mit ihrer Aktion so auf fehlenden bezahlbaren Wohnraum aufmerksam machen.
Construction on Oceanwide Plaza, at the time one of the biggest real estate development projects in downtown Los Angeles, was halted five years ago when its Beijing-based developer ran out of money. The empty complex, which includes three towers, was to feature retail and hotel space as well as luxury apartments and condominiums.
Instead, the buildings have sat unfinished and have become an eyesore in the popular L.A. Live complex, which includes numerous restaurants and shops as well as the Grammy Museum. Crypto.com Arena, which anchors the complex, will host the 66th Grammy Awards on Sunday.

Einen Kommentar hinterlassenTracy Chapman stand jahrelang nicht auf der Bühne, machte da aber letzte Nacht mal eine Ausnahmen, um zusammen mit Luke Combs bei den Grammys ihr „Fast Car“ zu singen. Wenig überraschend: sie kann es immer noch verdammt gut.
