Jan Erik Waider hat während der kalten Tage, und davon hatten wir dieses Jahr ja schon mehr als genug, seine Drohne über die Ostsee fliegen lassen und dabei ziemlich meditative Aufnahmen von der mit Eis bedeckten Wasseroberfläche gemacht, auf der sich durch die Wellen polygonale Eisgebilde formten, die sich sanft und rhythmisch mit den Wellen bewegten, ohne auseinanderzubrechen.
One of the most beautiful discoveries I’ve made this winter — ice waves along the coast of northern Germany. In early February, fresh Baltic Sea ice formed subtle polygon-like patterns and layered sheets, while gentle wave movements continued beneath the surface, creating a quiet tension between motion and stillness. Soft evening light, fine crack lines, and shifting tones from warm gold to deep green turned this fleeting moment into a study of structure, depth, and calm.
