Ein Film aus Fotos: Apollo

Der Fotograf Chris Coupland hat sich die NASA-Fotos der Apollo-Missionen genommen, sie durch Photoshop und After Effects gedengelt und dieses hübsche Video daraus gemacht. Toll!

Between the years of 1969 and 1972 the human race accomplished arguably the single greatest technological achievement of all time, when humans first set foot on another celestial body.

This short film is a tribute to the NASA Apollo Program space missions which successfully landed 12 men on the Moon. It was created entirely from still images from the Project Apollo Archive, which has bought together scans of all the original unprocessed images taken by the crews of the Apollo 10 to 17 space missions.

The elements that make up each image were separated with Adobe Photoshop and then animated within After Effects to create movement and parallax between the layers in the image. Effects and textures have been added to create a sense of action and transition between the scenes.

Stop Motion Film aus dem Flickr-Album der Apollo-Missionen

Vor einer Woche hatte die NASA tausende von Fotos der Apollo-Missionen auf Flickr geladen. Vimeo-Nutzer harrisonicus hat mit einigen dieser Bilder jetzt einen Stop Motion Film gebastelt. Schönes Ding.

I was looking through the Project Apollo Archive (flickr.com/photos/projectapolloarchive/) and at one point, I began clicking through a series of pics quickly and it looked like stop motion animation. So, I decided to see what that would look like without me having to click through it. Enjoy!

Die NASA lädt über 8000 Fotos ihrer Apollo-Missionen auf Flickr

Die Meldung ist nicht ganz neu, aber man braucht bei sagenhaften 8000+ Fotos halt auch seine Zeit, um sich da durchzuklickern.

So stehen nun tausende Aufnahmen der ersten bemannten Apollo(7)-Mission im Jahr 1968 bis zum bisher letzten bemannten Raumflug zum Mond der Apollo 17 1972 in hochaufgelöster Qualität unter Public Domain zur Verfügung.

Möglich wurde das dadurch, das Kipp Teague vom Project Apollo Archive seit über zehn Jahren die Fotos all der Missionen eingescannt hat. Hier in seiner scheinbar niemals enden wollenden Schönheit in einem gut sortierten Flickr-Album. Spaceporn <3

Alle Aufnäher der NASA Apollo Missionen als Animation

Neil Smith kennt sich nicht nur im Umgang mit Animationssoftware aus, sondern hat offenbar auch einen Faible für das Apollo-Programm der NASA.

Das Apollo-Programm war ein Raumfahrt-Projekt der USA. Es brachte zum ersten und bislang einzigen Mal Menschen auf den Mond. Das Programm wurde von der National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) zwischen 1961 und 1972 betrieben.

In mehreren Schritten erprobte die NASA Techniken, die für eine Mondlandung wichtig sein würden, wie z.B. das Navigieren und Koppeln im All oder das Verlassen eines Raumschiffs im Raumanzug. Viele wichtige Tests wurden in der Vorbereitung im Gemini-Programm durchgeführt. Die erste bemannte Mondlandung selbst fand dann am 20. Juli 1969 statt. Nach fünf weiteren Landungen wurde das Programm 1972, auch aus Kostengründen, eingestellt. Seit der Zeit hat bis heute kein Mensch wieder den Mond betreten.

Offenbar dachte Smith, er könne seine Interessen ja mal zusammenbringen, und animierte für dieses Video alle 17 Apollo-Patches. Und das ist ihm ziemlich bis sehr geil gelungen.

I’ve always thought it would be cool to animate all the mission patches from NASA’s manned moon missions. So when looking for a short project to do while teaching myself a bit more about the Octane renderer for C4D, this seemed like the perfect choice. Lots of different materials, texturing techniques, etc.
