Habe ich so bisher auch noch nicht gesehen. Bei Tabletop Whale gibt es das Ding auch in groß. Das hätte ich damals so gerne als Karte in der Schule gehabt. Für alles.

I checked out six butterfly field guides from the library and picked out some of the species I thought were the most unique and beautiful.

It’s meant as a chart of decorative species illustrations rather than an educational infographic. So it doesn’t have as much information as my other posts, but I did draw everything as true to life as I could.

Mathematische GIFs von Dave Whyte

Sehr hypnotische GIFs, die der aus Dublin stammende Doktorrand und digital Artist Dave Whyte auf Basis mathematischer Grundlagen kreiert. Wie genau er das macht erschließt sich mir nicht ganz, aber ich war in Mathe auch sehr oft „verhindert“. Nur in Geometrie war ich immer ziemlich gut. Vielleicht gefallen mir seine GIFs auch genau deshalb so sehr.

The Dublin-based PhD student is currently studying the physics of foam and tells us his first geometric gifs riffed on computational modules he was exploring while in undergrad. As interest in the work grows Whyte is focusing more on his artistic side, pushing the boundaries of these small animations created with the Processing programming language.
