In New York wurden Vans beschlagnahmt, die auf den Straßen der Stadt als Airbnb vermietet wurden

Als Mensch, der gerne mit dem Bulli unterwegs ist, weiß ich darum, dass es offiziell nicht erlaubt ist, sich mit dem Bus einfach irgendwo hinzustellen, um dort dann zu nächtigen. Passiert natürlich trotzdem mal. In New York dürfen Busse, in denen man pennen kann wohl nicht länger als 24 Stunden irgendwo parken. Danach müssen sie weiter ziehen. Reicht ja immerhin für eine Nacht.

Vor ein paar Monaten hatte sich ein Vlogger per Airbnb in einen Van gemietet, um dort halt zu übernachten. Davon hatte er ein Video gemacht und hochgeladen. Nun hat das NYPD sieben dieser Vans, die für um 100 Dollar die Nacht per Airbnb vermietet wurden, beschlagnahmt. Blöd für preisbewusste Touris, gut für die Parkplatzsituation in der Stadt. Gäbe es keine Parkplätze, gäbe es auch derlei Probleme nicht. Win-win.

But an eagle-eyed traffic enforcement agent noticed something sketchy about the vehicles — five of which were parked in the East Village — whose registration and NJ plates were long expired, some going as far back as 2000, sources said.

A joint investigation by the city Sheriff’s office and the NYPD Document Fraud Unit discovered an “operation of alleged fraudulent and illegally registered vehicles being used as Airbnb rentals on various streets in Manhattan,”

Wer die Schnauze voll von Timelapse-Videos aus New York hat; weiterklicken, es gibt hier nichts zu sehen. Ich bin derer bisher nicht müde und noch immer wieder gern von dieser Stadt geflasht.

I vividly remember my first experience of New York City as a kid, before I became a photographer. The shear sense of scale, the incredible architecture and just the over all feeling I got walking around the city. That experience became one of the reasons I got into photography. Ever since then, it has been my dream to recreate that feeling into a short timelapse film. From the sensory overload of standing on a busy New York street corner. To the tranquility of standing on a skyscraper, like being on top of the world. This is a dedication to my favorite city in the world.

„Liberty“ Is a visual journey through New York City captured through timelapse and hyperlapse photography. The video consists of about 15,000 still photographs captured from 2016-2018.

Völlig unaufgeregter und deshalb sehr entspannender Drohnenflug von der Freiheitsstatue nach Manhattan. Voll Schön. Aufgenommen und realisiert von Phill Holland.

13 m² Manhattan für $ 1375 zur Miete

München ist teuer, sehr teuer, und überhaupt sind die Mieten in den deutschen Ballungszentren sowieso teuer, wie dieses Ranking im Spiegel erst Gestern mal wieder bewies. Aber: sie sind bisher nichts gegen Mieten in Hongkong oder, wie hier, in New York.

Diese offenbar seriös angebotene Vermietung in Manhattan, NYC, preist eine Kammer von 13 m² für $ 1375 zur monatlichen Miete an. Das macht mal eben über $ 100 pro Quadratmeter. Ohne Fenster, dafür mit Klo und Duschkabine. Der Kühlschrank auf dem Doppelstockbett schafft fast Küchenatmosphäre. Und, so meine Befürchtung, irgendeine verzweifelte Seele, die sich täglich den Arsch abarbeitet, wird diesen Preis dafür zahlen – in der Hoffnung, dass alles bald mal besser wird. Weil: so ist es ja immer, irgendwie.

New York Portraits in Form von emotional bewegenden Videos gibt es dutzende. Die wenigsten davon, allerdings, kommen mit dem originalen Sound, der die Stadt auch nicht wenig mit ausmacht. Lukas Willasch macht das mit seinem „Tune in New York“ mal anders und bringt die Soundfragmente zu den Bildern. Schöne Idee.
