A wide and varied collection of Shareware programs for the Windows 3.0/3.1/3.1.1 systems of the early 1990s. Many are written in visual Basic, utilizing the then-new programmable user interface of Windows to allow a greater amount of independent programmers to make applications.

Ich weiß nicht genau warum, aber ich gucke mir das jetzt schon länger an als dass ich die Zeit dazu hätte. Honigsüße Nostalgiemomente – und das nicht wegen Windows. Wohl eher deshalb weil ich damals mehr Zeit mit dem Spiel verbracht habe, als dass ich diese dafür gehabt hätte. Ich sehe da Parallelen. Der Sound riecht nach alten verrauchten Kneipen.

3D Pinball for Windows – Space Cadet is one of the greatest and top renown video games of all time. It came with several versions of Windows, most notably Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

Windows 3.1 auf’m GameBoy

Weil ich es hier aus Versehen schon gestern schon drin hatte, bevor ich überhaupt dazu kam, es mir anzusehen und weil es auch heute noch so wunderbar nerdig ist: RubenRetro hat einen Emulator entwickelt, der Windows 3.1 auf einem GameBoy laufen lässt. Das Ding spielt Musik, hat Microsoft Paint i Graustufen inklusive Print-Option, lässt einen Minesweeper zocken und bringt sogar den obligatorischen Blue Screen of Death. Dabei ist GBS Windows keine angepasste Version des Original-Betriebssystems Windows 3.1 von Microsoft. Eher hat der Entwickler eine Art Spiel geschaffen, das dem klassischen Windows ähnlich sieht. Was früher mal das fragile Herz unserer Rechner war heute also als Spiel für den GameBoy. Ich mag die Idee.

Retrovex macht aus allen möglichen Vintage-Klängen Ambient. Für die Nostalgic Soundscapes Serie hier mit der ersten Episode, die sich einzig an den Sounds bedient, die Windows 95 uns damals beschert hat. Welch großartige Idee. Noch nie klang Windows so schön.
