Highly regarded German techno producer Shed (aka Rene Pawlowitz) was one of the highlights of MUTEK 2010, the 11th edition of the festival. An atypical artist in a crowded genre, Pawlowitz, who also records as Wax and EQD, makes highly disciplined and conceptual techno that foregoes the latest trends for a deeper understanding of the genre’s multi-faceted history, pulling together half-forgotten tangents of glitch, acid, breakbeats, and other beat templates into tracks that are quintessentially new.
For MUTEK 2010, Shed headlined a stellar line-up of international techno billed for a Friday night showcase at the 1000-capacity Club Soda.
