Chapeau!

Mit dabei u.a. Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Flying Lotus, Bibio, Oneohtrix Point Never und Mount Kimbie. Vorbestellungen sind ab jetzt auf Bleep möglich. Kosten für die Box: 135,00 Euro. Kann man machen.

On the solstice we came together.

On the summer solstice 2019 the extended Warp family came together with online radio station NTS to celebrate the label’s 30th anniversary. With over 100 hours of original music programming, the weekend-long communion featured mixes, documentaries, live performances, film and sessions from the whole Warp roster including Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Brian Eno, Flying Lotus, Danny Brown, Autechre and Kelela, plus a handful special guests including Death Grips and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Over the weekend, hundreds of thousands of music fans tuned in share in the celebration with the label, artists and each other via chat rooms, forums, social media and IRL playbacks in record shops, cafes and bars around the world.

Now, as the summer draws to a close, Warp continue the radio theme with the announcement of a special set of releases. WXAXRXP Sessions features ten specially selected sessions recorded for radio from across the history of the label, from Peel sessions in the very early days right up to the aforementioned WXAXRXP x NTS weekend. In the age of immediate, unelected, often low-quality rips of anything that is broadcast, these releases present each session in the highest quality, adorned in beautiful packaging designed by Michael Oswell, with photography by Synchrodogs.

The sessions include:

Aphex Twin Peel Session 2 TX: 10/04/95
One of only two radio sessions Aphex Twin has ever recorded. This Peel Session comprised of all original material at the time. Presented as a complete session and on vinyl for the first time.

Bibio WXAXRXP Session TX: 21/06/2019
Bibio revisits three tracks from his classic breakthrough album Ambivalence Avenue and one track from 2016’s A Mineral Love in a stripped-back acoustic style. This bespoke session was recorded especially for the WXAXRXP x NTS broadcast.

Boards of Canada Peel Session TX: 21/07/98
Boards of Canada’s one and only radio session presented for the first time in its complete form, with the inclusion of the previous broadcast-only track XYZ (Listen now).

Flying Lotus Presents INFINITY “Infinitum” – Maida Vale Session TX: 19/08/10
A classic live session from around the breakthrough Cosmogramma album, featuring a full live band including Thundercat, Miguel Atwood-Ferguson and Ravi Coltrane. The session features otherwise unheard track Golden Axe.

Kelly Moran WXAXRXP Session TX: 22/06/2019
A bespoke session recorded for WXAXRXP, the only session which is previously un-broadcast.

LFO Peel Session TX: 20/10/90
Much sought after Peel Session recorded shortly after LFO had released their first single on Warp and featuring otherwise unheard tracks.

Mount Kimbie WXAXRXP Session TX: 21/06/2019
The expanded live line-up of Mount Kimbie demonstrating how their material has evolved on the road in this bespoke session first broadcast as part of the WXAXRXP x NTS takeover. Features a guest appearance from Mica Levi.

Oneohtrix Point Never KCRW Session TX: 23/10/18
OPN’s Myriad Ensemble show their capabilities in re-interpreting studio material in these 4 tracks picked from a KCRW session recorded. Features ADR, Kelly Moran and Eli Keszler.

Plaid Peel Session 2 TX: 08/05/99
One of several Peel Sessions recorded by Plaid. This one from their Rest Proof Clockwork album era features all unique material including live favourite Elide.

Seefeel Peel Session TX: 27/05/94
A live band session from their Succour album period, including Rough For Radio and Phazemaze which never appeared on any other release.

Legend (A Portrait of Bob Marley), 2005

Viele Menschen singen irgendwie gemeinsam viele Songs von Bob Marley. Jeder auf seine ganz persönliche Weise.

Candice Breitz

30-Channel Installation: 30 Hard Drives
Duration: 62 minutes, 40 seconds

Breitz’s experiments in the field of portraiture can cumulatively be described as an ongoing anthropology of the fan. Beginning with ‘Legend (A Portrait of Bob Marley).

[…]

In each case, Breitz first sets out to identify ardent fans of the musical icon to be portrayed, by placing ads in newspapers, magazines and fanzines, as well as on the Internet. Those who respond to this initial call (typically numbering in their hundreds) are then put through a rigorous set of procedures designed to exclude less than authentic fans of the celebrity in question, in order to arrive at the final group of participants.

Video: Post Malone – Saint-Tropez
