Das könnte eine durchaus interessante Kiste sein: Andrew Dubber veröffentlicht seit 2007 auf dem Musik-Blog newmusicstrategies.com immer wieder lesenswerte Beiträge zum Thema Umgang mit Musik im neuen Jahrtausend. 20 seiner Beiträge hat er jetzt als Pdf geschnürt und zum freien Download zur Verfügung gestellt.

Fotoset: Radiohead und Kraftwerk in Mexico City am 15.03.09

Radiohead touren momentan durch Lateinamerika, gestern startete die Tour in Mexico City. Als Support für die insgesamt sieben Konzerte haben sie sich Kraftwerk eingepackt. Kraftwerk(!) Was ich beim Erhalt dieser Meldung noch nicht ganz glauben konnte, beweist jetzt das Album von Flickr-User thbj, der das gestrige Konzert auf hochwertige Weise wunderbar dokumentiert hat. Da stehen ernsthaft Kraftwerk als Support für Radiohead auf der Bühne. Verrückte Welt.

Prädikat: Höchst interessant und unbedingt sehenswert.

Auch in der DDR war Punk – zehn Jahre später zwar als andernorts, grundsätzlich aber die gleiche Sache. Carsten Fiebeler lässt in seiner Dokumentation sechs Protagonisten der Ostpunkszene zu Wort kommen, durchmischt die Interviewpassagen mit Archivmaterial aus den 70er- und 80er-Jahren, mit Propaganda- und privaten 8mm-Aufnahmen. „Too much Future“ erzählt von einer wilden Zeit, vom Leben danach und der martialischen Unterdrückung dazwischen. Allerdings bleiben viele der Aussagen vage, und es liegt beim Zuschauer, sie zu deuten und zu bewerten.

Afro-Punk: The Rock is a 66-minute documentary film directed by James Spooner, exploring race identity within the punk scene across America and abroad. The film focuses the lives of four people dedicated to the punk rock lifestyle, interspersed with interviews from scores of black punk rockers from all over the United States. The interviews cover issues of loneliness, exile, interracial dating, black power, and the dual lives led by people of color in communities that are primarily white. Afro-Punk features performances by Bad Brains, Tamar Kali, Cipher, and Ten Grand. It also contains exclusive interviews by members of Fishbone, 24-7 Spyz, Dead Kennedys, Candiria, Orange 9mm and TV on the Radio, among others. In 2003 the documentary was featured at the American Black Film Festival in South Beach and the Pan African Film & Arts Festival, and won an Official Selection at the Toronto International Film Festival, an Audience Award at the Black Harvest International Film and Video Festival in Chicago, an award for Excellence in Documentary Filmmaking at the Roxbury Film Festival in Boston, and an award for Best Documentary at the International Jamerican Film and Music Festiva] in Jamaica.
