Farbe + Seife + Öl = galaktischer Augenzucker

Der Regisseur Thomas Blanchard hat sich mit dem Fotografen Oilhack zusammengetan und zusammen haben dieses nahezu unfassbar schöne Video voller Farben, Seifen und Ölen gemacht: Galaxy Gates.

It is the result of a 4 months long job. Due to the very high selection standards, less than 2% of the shots taken were used to create this immersive video.
First, paints are mixed, then they are “opened”, a specific process that we have worked out while on a trip in Japan.

Holz-Stop-Motion: WoodSwimmer

Brett Foxwell hat sich Holz genommen und aus diesem ein verdammt beeindruckendes Stop-Motion-Video gemacht, für das er Schicht für Schicht des Holzes abgetragen hat. Nach jedem Schritt hat er dann ein Foto gemacht. Klingt nach verdammt viel Arbeit sieht aber halt auch verdammt gut aus.

WoodSwimmer is based on a concept I developed while designing a new stop-motion universe where wood is the primary element. The sequences are cross-sectional photographic scans of pieces of hardwood, burls and branches. It is a straightforward technique but one which is brutally tedious to complete.

Ein alter Benz dreht durch: Auto Nom

Solch einen Benz kaufte mein Vater nach dem Fall der Mauer für damals 2000,- DM. Die Kiste war ein altes Taxi und ersetzte den ni­gel­na­gel­neuen Trabbi, den er nach Jahren des Wartens ein halbes Jahr vorher für 14.000,- Ostmark gekauft hatte, aber darum soll es hier nicht gehen, denn:

Oh hello lovely machine, emancipating yourself from function… You look adorable, you know? Yes dear, you were built to be autonomous, it said so in the campaign brief.
No rush – getting from A to B was never an exciting idea to begin with, for your kind. Dance yourself clean, pull your metal frame apart and let the sun burn through your circuits. Ride your autobiography, guided by the beauty of your code.
Fresh freedom smells like common place, and „authenticity“ like a frivolous illusion of your makers. So your character was designed to be self-organizing: a beautiful homage to the combined effort of all of those minds that built you – considering your appearance being a quite sloppy imitation of life.

Aber auch gut.

Grandioses Wholecar-Piece vom Australier Sofles in Bukarest. Story dazu bei Creators.

While many cities regularly cleanse their public transit of paint, photos of the Romanian capital’s trains decked with letters and murals abound.

It’s unclear whether this mural was authorized, though Creators has reached out to SOFLES for comment. The mural is a collaboration with local Romanian writers BigMach and Mser1, whose Instagram account is loaded with letters coating metro cars.

The Murals of Łódź

Viel mehr Städte sollten das Gut der großflächigen Wandbilder so pflegen, wie das im polnischen Łódź der Fall ist.

“My aim is to create a permanent exhibition of great art in the public space of Łódź,” says Michał Bieżyński, founder of Łódź Murals.
Urban Forms Foundation was created in 2009. Since then there are more than 30 large mural paintings in the city of Łódź.

Die Farbschicht nach 30 Jahren Graffiti

Beeindruckendes hat Paul De Graaf an der Graffiti Hall of Fame in der Stadt Nijmegen in den Niederlanden zu Tage gebracht. Seine Aufnahmen zeigen die Sedimentschichten ein Graffitiwand, die seit 30 Jahren immer wieder übersprüht wurde.

It’s a Graffiti Hall of Fame in the city of Nijmegen, the Netherlands. What started as a 70’s Hippie cult place, became a center of music and art in the early 80’s. One of the first places where it was legal to smoke cannabis. It still a Music studio and Graffiti Hall of fame. The building is surrounded by walls that are all spray painted from top to bottom.
