Donna Gill Allen ist Lehrerin an einer High School in North Carolina und unterrichtet dort unter anderem zum Thema Bakterien. In diesem Zuge hat sie mit ihren Schülern ein anschauliches sowie cleveres Experiment durchgeführt, für das drei Toast in drei Zipper-Tüten kamen. Ein Toast wurde dort mit Handschuhen reingepackt, eines mit gewaschenen, und das dritte mit ungewaschenen Händen. Dann haben sie die Dinger an die Wand gepappt und einfach mal gewartet. Keine Ahnung, wie lange genau, aber das letzte Toast sah am Ende jetzt nicht mehr ganz so lecker aus.
Auch wenn ich kein Freund von Desinfektion im Alltag bin und auch schon mal ein Toast schmiere, ohne mir vorher die Hände zu waschen, finde ich diese Art der Veranschaulichung doch ziemlich gelungen.

To all my teacher friends this is the grossest yet coolest experiment. I did this while teaching about germs and how they spread. You use three pieces of bread. You let all the kids see you put a piece of bread in a baggy with a glove on hence „controlled“ then you wash your hands and put a piece of bread in a baggy for „clean“ last but definitely not least you pass a piece of bread around and let every kid in class touch it then you put it in a baggy and label it dirty. Watch how the bread changes over time due to germs.
