At the time it was an example of how a visual biography should be done, but some of the information in it needs revising in the light of new information uncovered over the years. The film contains concert footage spanning the Marquee in 1967 to his last UK performance at the third Isle of Wight festival in 1970; along the way we see classic performances at Monterey (1967), Woodstock (1969), Fillmore East (1969/70), and Berkeley (1970). A double album was released to tie-in with the film, containing the complete performances in the film, along with interviews with people in the film (not necessarily the same interviews). The film is worth seeing for Jimi’s performances, and to hear what his contemporaries have to say about him (Eric Clapton, Mitch Mitchell, Lou Reed, Mick Jagger, Pete Townsend, and others). Written by Martin {martin.o_brien@which.net} This is a biography of Jimi Hendrix, the world famous guitarist who died much too young in 1970. Friends and prominent musicians like Pete Townsend, Mick Jagger, Eric Clapton and Buddy Miles comment on Jimi’s life and his influence on the rock music. Features recordings from concerts appearences, including „Hey Joe“, „Rock me baby“, „Like a rolling stone“, „A Star Sprangled Banner“ from Woodstock ’69 and many more. Written by Tom Zoerner.

Und lieber Einzelhandel: Ich finde es schon mächtig bescheuert, dass ich zwar im Spätsommer Schokoladenweihnachtsmänner kaufen kann, heute hingegen nicht mehr. Aber das soll mich heute nicht weiter stören.

„Das beste, was man von diesem Sound momentan kaufen kann“. So preist der Vertrieb die Platte an und er hat verdammt recht. Ein Roots-Dub-Reggae-Monster, das so wunderbar digital klingt und mich so dermaßen kickt, das es mehr für die letzte Woche diesen Jahres nichts weiter geben wird. Grandios! Auf der Dubmatix-Page kann man das Album bereits kaufen, die haptische Variante (harhar) kommt im Januar 2009 auf dem deutschen Label called Echo Beach. Wer was für Dub übrig hat, sollte da unbedingt reinhören.
