Kurzfilm über einen 90-jährigen Fischer, der Plastik vor Balis Küsten einsammelt

In ihrem Kurzfilm „ Voice Above Water “ besucht die in San Francisco lebende Regisseurin Dana Frankoff den 90-jährigen Fischer Wayan in seinem Haus auf Bali und begleitet ihn bei seiner täglichen Routine, die nicht mehr das Fischen sondern das Einsammeln von Plastikmüll ist.

VOICE ABOVE WATER is the story of a 90-year-old Balinese fisherman who can no longer fish because of the amount of plastic pollution in the ocean, instead he collects trash in hopes of being able to fish again. The story is a glimpse into how one human is using his resources to make a difference and a reminder that if we all play our part we can accomplish something much greater than ourselves.

Taucher und YouTuber cheeseandjamsandwich war neulich vor Bali unterwegs und wollte eigentlich mit Rochen tauchen. Rochen sieht man in dem dabei entstanden Video keine. Ein paar Quallen aber – und Müll mit Müll und noch mehr Müll.

The ocean currents brought us in a lovely gift of a slick of jellyfish, plankton, leaves, brunches, fronds, sticks, etc…. Oh, and some plastic. Some plastic bags, plastic bottles, plastic cups, plastic sheets, plastic buckets, plastic sachets, plastic straws, plastic baskets, plastic bags, more plastic bags, plastic, plastic, so much plastic!
Surprise, surprise, there weren’t many Mantas there at the cleaning station today… They mostly decided not to bother.
