Herrlich düster minimales Set, das AiRKA da vor ein paar Tagen in der Renate auf die Teller gepackt hat und dass eigentlich sehr viel besser auf ein Open Air in der Nacht passen würde. Neben einem kleinen Waldstück, dass die Synth-Sounds erst auffängt und dann wieder zurückbringend in Richtung Dancefloor ausspuckt, was sich einen dann fragen lässt, was das gerade war und wo zur Hölle das denn genau herkommt. Es knarzt und brummt an allen Ecken und Enden und schiebt und drückt und macht verdammt viel Spaß. Auch und gerade auf dem Rad. Für euch ausführlich getestet.

Mix: Mattmosphere – Purple

Ich habe dazu gestern auf Arbeit schon den Garten aus dem Winterschlaf geholt und mache hier heute zu allerfeinstem Wetter damit auch einfach zu Hause weiter. An einem Wochenende, das nicht viel will, nichts erwartet, außer eine gute freie Zeit zu guter Musik zu haben, die begleiten will. Organische Down- und Dopebeats mit einer Prise Funk und dem ein oder anderen Exkurs Richtig HipHop. So kann man sich seine Qualitytime in der Sonne mit diesem Mixwerk von Mattmosphere ganz fantastisch akustisch umrahmen.

FRUITCAST #55: Nico Tober – Spacy habanero salsa

Nicht mehr ganz taufrisch, aber ganz passend, um sich dazu auf den kommenden Sommer zu freuen. Genau diesen Sound nämlich hätte ich in diesem gerne. Nico Tober für den Fruitcast mit einer Spacy Habanero Salsa. Und der Name ist durchaus Programm. Sehr geiles Ding, das mindestens ein Lächeln ins Gesicht zu zaubern weiß und schiebt.

Aphex Twin Ambient Mix

Ostern ist ja anders wenn die Kinder dann groß sind. Die Präsente werden kleiner und auf’s Suchen hat auch keiner mehr so richtig Bock. Also mache ich mir auf anderem Wege den Tag ein wenig schöner. Mit diesem Aphex Twin Mix, der ambiente Perlen von Richard David James ineinander webt und mich schon mit dem ersten Chord von „Rhubarb“ hat. Hach! Na denn: Frohstern. Prostern.

Forbidden Colours – A Tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto

Dave von Low Light Mixes mit einem Tribute-Mix, der das musikalische Schaffen von Ryuichi Sakamoto sammelt und ehren soll. Passt.

Another musical great has left this world. Ryuichi Sakamoto was a founding member of Yellow Magic Orchestra. He became well known for his neo-classical work, his collaborations, and of course his film scores, from Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence to The Revenant to the Oscar-winning score for The Last Emperor. The solo piano version of Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence is one of my favorite piano pieces ever written.

In January of this year he released an album of piano tracks, called 12, that is hauntingly simple and beautiful.

In 2017 he recorded a track called „Life, Life“, from the album Async, that is one of my favorite pieces of all time. I’d like to finish this post with the spoken word poem that appears in that track…

Low Light Mix zum Piano Day 2023

Dave von Low Light Mixes hat anlässlich des heutigen Piano Days einen Mix gewebt, der – Überraschung – einzig und allein aus ambienten Piano Tunes besteht. Ich lass den mal hier, während er durchläuft.

International Piano Day is March 29th and, as has been the case for the last five years, I’ve put together a new mix in celebration of ambient piano tunes. I don’t do quite as many piano mixes as I once did but when I create these Piano Day sets I find I really enjoy the vibe.

There are a lot of new tracks in the mix, half of them from 2022 & 2023. But there are a few older tunes as well. I really like how this one turned out. I hope you enjoy the latest Piano Day excursion.
