Mix: Jeff Chill – The Origins Of Dub Techno

Als ich neulich auf dem Rad saß und in einem Mix aus dem Kater Blau so klassische Dub Chords hörte, dachte ich daran, wie viel Dub Techno ich einst gehört und wie hart ich diesen auch gefeiert habe. Irgendwann über die Jahre ist sich das dann ausgegangen und ich habe andere Vorlieben entwickelt. Gestern hat Jeff dann diesen Mix hochgeladen, der sich über drei Stunden lang einzig und alleine dem Dub Techno widmet. Natürlich ist da nichts Neues bei, aber es ist ein wenig wie Musikgeschichte, die fast alle mitbringt, die in dem Genre Rang und Namen haben/hatten. Da kann man schon mal beide Ohren riskieren. Mindestens.

Deep Afterhour X-Mas Special ’18: Rudi Stöher

Nachdem hier das Gröbste des Festes für dieses Jahr geschafft ist, die Geschenke geschenkt sind und ich zwei Tage lang meinen Laptop geschlossen hatte, finden wir uns doch langsam aber sicher zurück auf dem Weg ins Internet.

Vorne weg mit Brudi Stöher der in den letzten Tagen mal eben noch einen ganz deepen und dubbigen Mix für Martins Deep Afterhour zusammengeschraubt hat. Die fliegt hier jetzt durch die Küche, hilft beim Aufräumen und beim Resteessen. Könntet ihr auch so machen.

Our 2018 Xmas special is mixed by our lovely friend „Rudi Stöher“. As a part of the great „Kraftfuttermischwerk“ is Rudi definitely not unknown. Some smooth and contemplative Dub Techno sounds for some warm moments. Enjoy and Merry Christmas!

Das litauische Label Cold Tear Records feiert aktuell Geburtstag. Den siebenten um genau zu sein. In diesem Zuge hauen sie eine Compi auf Bandcamp raus, die irgendwo zwischen Dub, Dubtechno und der dafür immer noch glorreichen 00er Jahren hin und her wabert. Hier im Stream. Zu bekommen über den Name-your-price-Button. Geiles Zeug! Gekauft.

Rekall_ – Moritz von Oswald Tribute Mix

Rekall_ widmet sich zwei Stunden lang dem Schaffen des Dub Techno Pioniers Moritz von Oswald. Berliner Techno like 90’s und Neueres. Damit es lässt es sich entspannt in die Woche starten.

In the late 1993, mysterious records of mind bending electronic echoes, in length and structures, started to emerge from Berlin. Plain sleeved records with enigmatic graphics pressed in Detroit, but made in Germany by two guys from Berlin who weren’t so keen about showcasing their physique, but rather focused on the music. Basic channel and Moritz von Oswald took techno music to a degree in a variety of shapes that encompassed dub, ambient, downtempo, techno and basically crafted minimal techno de facto. Mr. von Oswald aimed towards face eating repetition and stretching the groove into a place that opened a rich and vast new territory in music for the dance floor and sound textures that were and still are unique.

It’s like Lee Perry would stretch his legs in warm bath with nothing but sequencers and TB 303 for company. Using the mixing board as a tool like his Jamaican nemesis, von Oswald swiftly emerged as the quintessential post-modern artist : collaboration were spawned with Juan Atkins, Carl Craig, Nills Petter Molvaer and so on. The holy grail of techno music. Pure class, heavenly remixes and blissful dubby basslines.
