Das Gorillaweibchen Kiki lebt (leider) im Franklin Park Zoo in Boston und wurde vor einiger Zeit Mutter. Neulich kam eine Frau mit einem Baby an ihrem Gehege vorbei und Kiki war offensichtlich sehr interessiert an dem Menschenkind. Und ihren Sohn wollte sie dann auch mal vorstellen. Faszinierend.
This gorilla is Kiki. She recently had a baby named Pablo. My wife, Emmelina, also had a baby 5 weeks previous to this video. Kiki had brought her baby over to us and shared a connection with my wife and our baby boy Canyon.

Mindestens drei Gorillas im Zoo von San Diego haben sich mit dem Coronavirus angesteckt. Die beiden Tiere husten seit der vergangenen Woche und wurden daraufhin positiv auf den Erreger getestet. Es sind die beiden ersten bekannten Fälle, in denen sich Menschenaffen auf natürliche Weise mit dem Coronavirus infiziert haben. Es geht ihnen den Umständen entsprechend gut. Im Zoo hofft man auf vollständige Genesung.

Mir ja ein wenig zu viel des Storytellings, aber wer weiß das schon so ganz genau?
Zola ist ein Gorilla im Zoo von Dallas. Manchmal geht Zola dort planschen. Offenbar mag Zola das. Das ist auch ohne Musik schon sehenswert. Besser aber noch, wenn man Michael Sembellos „Maniac“ drunter packt.

Gorilladame Koko, die von der The Gorilla Foundation betreut wird, hatte zu ihrem letzten Geburtstag ungewöhnliche Gratulanten. Ein paar Katzenbabys kamen sie besuchen. Es ist faszinierend zu sehen, wie sanft die Gorilladame mit den Katzen hantiert.
Koko got her birthday wish this July 4th — not only did one kitten come to visit, but a whole litter. Koko fell in love with one, and the other fell in love with her. Koko has adopted these two kittens into her family, and it has energized her world.
Not only have Koko’s maternal and play instincts kicked in, but she is signing more to her caregivers and generating new content everyday that can be used by The Gorilla Foundation to create empathy fro great apes. This can have significant benefits to both endangered free-living great apes and those in captive environments, by encouraging the development of 2-way communication with their caregivers (which Koko has had since she was a baby).
