Ein Wandbild, das sich nur bei Ebbe in Gänze ansehen lässt

Sean Yoro alias Hula wurde kürzlich von der Tourismusbehörde Saint John in New Brunswick, Kanada, damit beauftragt, eine seiner Paddleboard-Wandmalereien zu malen. An einer Stelle an der die mit höchsten Gezeitenunterschiede weltweit gemessen werden: die Bay of Fundy.

Für das fertige Mural brauchte Hula neun Tage. Jeden Tag musste er sich dabei mit den Gezeiten arrangieren, die dort Unterschiede von über acht Metern haben. Eine weitere Herausforderung: die Farbe trotz des steigenden Wassers und des Regens auf die Wand zu bekommen.

Yoro only uses eco-friendly paint that will eventually wash away. Finding the right eco-friendly combination of paints and sealers was tricky as the majority of his canvas was underwater for most of the time.

The Murals of Łódź

Viel mehr Städte sollten das Gut der großflächigen Wandbilder so pflegen, wie das im polnischen Łódź der Fall ist.

“My aim is to create a permanent exhibition of great art in the public space of Łódź,” says Michał Bieżyński, founder of Łódź Murals.
Urban Forms Foundation was created in 2009. Since then there are more than 30 large mural paintings in the city of Łódź.
