Gilly war vor kurzem in New York City und hat nebst einem Bericht jede Menge Fotos und auch Videomaterial mitgebracht. Dieses hat er zu einem Video geschnitten und mit meinem „Birkenholzkompott“ aus dem Jahre 2010 unterlegt. Ein quasi „Unofficial Music Video“. Find ich gut.
Einen Kommentar hinterlassenIm letzten Jahr hat der Street Art Künstler Katsu eine Graffiti-Drohne entwickelt und in einem Studio gezeigt. Mitte der Woche hat er das Teil nun beim Sprühen in der Öffentlichkeit gefilmt – und zwar am größten und meist gesehenen Billboards New York Citys.
The Calvin Klein billboard, one of New York City’s largest, sits at the busy intersection of Houston St and Lafayette St. The graffiti drone’s potential for troublemaking on an unprecedentedly grand scale is obvious. The billboard is absolutely gigantic, about six stories tall. It would have been almost impossible to tag Jenner’s face using the traditional methods. One could rappel off the top of the building or use a cherry picker, but neither option is exactly safe, or subtle, or quick enough that one could do it without cops on regular patrol spotting it. With the drone, by contrast, it took less than a minute. Still, the artist admitted, “It was a bit tense.” (Needless to say, the stunt was extremely illegal).

Das Künstlerkollektiv Dawn of Man projiziert in der Nacht Aufnahmen von schlafenden Menschen auf die Wände der Stadt, die niemals schläft.
These massive nappers were projected throughout NYC over the course of several weeks, occurring unannounced, and each lasting only for a few hours. An unsuspecting audience usually emerges at each location, often sparked with intrigue, sometimes enlightenment, and always a whole lot of questions.

Einen Kommentar hinterlassenDen Tab habe ich schon seit ein paar Tagen offen und mag ihn nicht so gerne schließen, ohne ihn hier als Video gebracht zu haben. Weil dieses auf ganz eigene Weise eben so schön und irgendwie eigen ist. Aus ganz vielen Fotos digital zusammengeklebt.
4 KommentareThis year I visited New York for the first time. Throughout my time there I was walking all around the city with my camera. I was looking for a way to portray all the different types of scenery and people that I saw as well as keep the constant energy of the city. I decided to take still photographs and compile them in a video as if they were one flowing motion.

Richie Hawtin hat am vergangenen Wochenende in NYC auf der US-Ausgabe des gerade um die Welt tourenden Time Warp gespielt. Dort war er wohl etwas abgenervt von einer Frau, die ihn beim Spielen filmte. So schob er sie mit einer Monitorbox von sich weg, wobei die Box wohl auf die Frau fiel. Da hatte der Herr Hawtin wohl wieder einmal von irgendwas zu viel. Mittlerweile bedauert er die Aktion und entschuldigte sich per Facebook.
