Ich habe ewig keinen Zauberwürfel mehr gelöst. Nachdem ich das als Jugendlicher hin und wieder geschafft hatte, hatte sich meine Motivation, dies regelmäßig zu tun, irgendwie drastisch reduziert. Keine Ahnung, wie lange ich heute brauchen würde. Vermutlich drei Tage oder so. Anders RuboCubo; der löst in 20 Sekunden drei auf einmal – während er mit den Dingern jongliert. Ja.

Nette Idee von YouTuber nyassin14, der nach seinem Abschluss auf dem Harvard College mit einem Rubiks Cube um die Welt reiste und je eine Person einmal an dem Ding drehen lies. Ich bezweifle ernsthaft, dass er da so gar nicht nachgeholfen haben will, aber das macht die Idee nicht weniger charmant.

I started solving the cube using the F2L method. To solve the last layer, I used a 6-step algorithm multiple times to get to the cross and then a 9-step algorithm for OLL and finally a 15-step algorithm for PLL.

Wenn der Zauberwürfel 40 wird, kann man ihn auch mal mit sehr speziellen Methoden würdigen. So wie das Chrome Cube Lab, die für den 808 Cube Rubiks Würfel und die Roland TR-808 zusammenbringen. Das hat nicht wirklich Mehrwert, fetzt aber als kleine Spielerei, auch wenn der eigentliche 16-Step-Sequencer hier zum 8-Step-Sequencer mutiert, der auch nicht auf Linie sondern einmal ringsum auf jeder Seite läuft. Die Samples sind eher etwas schwach auf der Brust, aber die Idee dazu ist trotzdem ziemlich geil, finde ich.

Tolles Projekt, das seine ganze Faszination vielleicht erst im urbanen Kontext offenbart. An der Universität für Künstlerische und Industrielle Gestaltung in Linz haben ein paar Leute ein kleines würfelförmiges Interface namens Puzzle Facade entwickelt, welches das Prinzip des Rubik Cube auf Häuserwände übersetzen kann. Das sieht auch dann absolut großartig aus, wenn der Würfel nicht auf dem Weg zur Lösung ist. Gerade dann gar.

This data is sent via Bluetooth to a computer that runs the Puzzle Facade designed software. This software changes the lights and color of the large-scale Ars Electronica’s media facade in correlation to the handheld interface-cube.
Due to the nature of this building and its surroundings, the player is only able to see two sides at the same time. This factor increases the difficulty of solving the puzzle, but as the player is able to rotate and flip the interface-cube, it is not a blocking factor.
