Nachdem die Smashing Pumpkins im Jahr 1998 „Adore“ veröffentlicht hatten, erlosch mein großes Fanboy-Herz für die Band ein wenig. Nicht weil „Adore“ jetzt irgendwie schlecht gewesen wäre – im Gegenteil: ich fand, es war ein starkes Album. Aber manchmal ist es bei Musik ja so, dass alles seine Zeit hat und man sich dann dabei auf das fixiert, was man mal lieben gelernt hatte. So war es bei den Pumpkins und mir. Ich habe vieles von dem, was dann noch kam ignoriert. Womöglich ging auch deshalb an mir vorbei, dass irgendwann 2000 bei eBay jede Menge Demos aufgetaucht sind, die während der Entstehung von „Adore“ aufgenommen wurden. Dutzende, die es später dann nicht auf die Platte geschafft haben. Jemand hat die jetzt alle mal auf YouTube zusammen gebracht, so dass man sie quasi als Album hören kann.
