Über Bruce Campbell, der sich vor Jahren schon eine Boeing 727 in die Wälder von Oregon gestellt und dann damit begonnen hat, daraus ein Wohndomizil zu bauen, schrieb ich vor drei Jahren hier schon mal. Great Big Story hat ihn jetzt besucht und nachgeschaut, wie weit er denn bisher gekommen ist. Platz hat er, da kannste nichts sagen.
Bruce Campbell lives in an airplane. Yes, an actual jet. The Portland-based aeronautics enthusiast makes his home in a converted Boeing 727 that was once used as a Greek aircraft until the mid-1960s and now resides in a forest near Portland.

Das Video braucht ein bisschen, bis die beiden dann endlich mal eine Carolina Reaper, die 2013 ganz offiziell als schärfste Chilischote der Welt ausgezeichnet wurde, runterkauen. Aber dann wird es ganz schön warm. Und wie er rechts nicht mal daran denkt, auch nur irgendwas zum Löschen nachschütten zu wollen.
Wer Schärfe will, muss leiden. Ganz mein Geschmack.
Die Carolina Reaper ist ein Capsicum chinense Chili-Hybrid, welche Sorten genau die Eltern sind, ist nicht bekannt. In verschiedenen Quellen wird eine Naga-Variante aus Pakistan und eine karibische Habanero, welche auf einem Vulkan gefunden wurde, als Eltern erwähnt. Der ursprüngliche Name HP22B wurde ihr von ihrem Züchter Ed Currie der PuckerButt Pepper Company in Fort Mill, South Carolina gegeben. Im November 2013 erhielt diese Sorte den Eintrag im Guinness-Buch der Rekorde als schärfste Chili-Sorte der Welt.

Der gemessene Spitzenwert der Carolina Reaper lag bei über 2,2 Millionen Scoville, der errechnete Durchschnittswert lag bei 1.569.300 Scoville-Einheiten.
Zum Vergleich: Tabasco hat meist zwischen 2,5 und 5 Tausend Scoville. Carolina Reaper also räumt nicht nur den Magen auf.

Geiles Teil, das an der Technischen Hochschule Zürich entwickelt wurde und es zulässt, mit einem NES und 8 Projektoren Super Mario auf 360° zu spielen.
We propose a hardware and software system that transforms 8-bit side-scrolling console video games into immersive multiplayer experiences. We enhance a classic video game console with custom hardware that time-multiplexes eight gamepad inputs to automatically hand off control from one gamepad to the next. Because control transfers quickly, people at a large event can frequently step in and out of a game and naturally call to their peers to join any time a gamepad is vacant.
Video from the game console is captured and processed by a vision algorithm that stitches it into a continuous, expanding panoramic texture, which is displayed in real time on a 360 degree projection system at a large event space. With this system, side-scrolling games unfold across the walls of the room to encircle a large party, giving the feeling that the entire party is taking place inside of the game’s world. When such a display system is not available, we also provide a virtual reality recreation of the experience. We show results of our system for a number of classic console games tested at a large live event. Results indicate that our work provides a successful recipe to create immersive, multiplayer, interactive experiences that leverage the nostalgic appeal of 8-bit games.
